The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: Tips & tricks Hero

The people of Hyrule are in trouble and it’s up to Zelda and Tri to save the kingdom! Here are some tips to keep in mind as you play The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom game!

All about echoes

So, with the help of the Tri Rod, Zelda’s big ability in the game is creating ‘echoes’—imitations of stuff that she finds in Hyrule. Echoes can cover a wide range of things, from inanimate furniture that can be moved around, to monsters that do your bidding. It’s important to note that you’re not crafting anything in this game—for example, you don’t have to find a bunch of wooden planks and some feathers to make a bed! Nah, once you learn how to make a bed echo, you can instantly make it whenever you want. The fun comes from thinking about how you want to use your echoes.

There are over a hundred echoes in the game, but let’s use the bed as an example. If you create a bed, you can jump in and sleep to regain health (it IS a bed, after all). Or you can stack a bunch of them in a way that creates makeshift stairs. Or create a series of them to bridge a gap. Or plop one down in the middle of a pond and use it as a floating platform.. There are many possibilities to explore!

The best way to figure out what an echo can do is to experiment. While there’s a limit to how many echoes you can have out at a given time, there are no penalties to using echoes repeatedly. So go wild!

A notable tip

Don’t sleep on the Notebook in the game. This echo guide can always be accessed in the game’s main menu. You can also quickly access it by pressing the + Button when you first learn an echo (or when you’re cycling through your echo inventory with the Right Directional Button or L Button).

The Notebook gives a little description for each echo, often layering in small hints of how it will act. For example, the entry for Spear Moblin says, ‘A brutish monster found all over Hyrule. Its hurled spears can reach even high-up targets’. Hmm, what do you make of that last part? Perhaps you should try using Spear Moblin against flying enemies…

Of course, that’s just one direction to go. You may find your own special way of using that echo! Like, perhaps, picking up the Spear Moblin and acting like you’re a mobile turret. Just spitballing here…

Sort it out

With all the echoes at your disposal you’re gonna need a way to keep things straight and quickly access them If you don’t want to go to the main menu each time, try holding down the Right Directional Button (or L Button) and scroll through it with either Control Stick. When that echo inventory is open, you can also press the Y Button to sort your echoes into different categories:

  • Last Used (An easy way to cycle through your recent echoes!)

  • Most Used (You might develop some ‘go-to’ echoes for basic tasks—just remember to keep experimenting with new ones you find)

  • Last Learned (It’s easy to forget when you learn a new one—use this list to jog your memory)

  • Cost (Generally speaking, the more powerful echoes have a higher cost)

  • Type (Divide up your monsters from your…not-monsters)

Echoes of combat

Echoes aren’t just for exploration: You can create monsters to fight, too! Some monsters are more useful against others, so keep trying new combinations.

Important! Remember that you can direct your monster echoes to attack a specific target by holding down the ZL Button. If there are multiple enemies around, just let go of the button and press it again until it locks on to the target you want.

Oh, and keep an eye on Tri’s power when you’re making echoes (it looks like little triangles that float from Tri’s body). For example, when you create a monster that costs one energy level, one triangle will disappear from Tri’s body.

While this is a visual way for you to keep track, don’t get caught up on it TOO much. If needed, the game will automatically disperse an echo to give you enough energy to cast a new one. Easy peasy.

More importantly, keep an eye on your echoes that flash yellow. This is another visual way to notify you which echo will disappear first when you create a new echo. For example, you probably wouldn’t want the platform you’re standing on to disappear when you’re crossing a precarious gap!

OK, that’s all for now! Remember that you can always bookmark this article to easily come back to it. If you’d like to buy the game, please use the link below.
