Game Boy Sound Problem Troubleshooting

Important Note: Due to the higher quality sound system design used on the Game Boy Advance, some older games may have sound problems when played on the system. This is more of an aesthetic problem, and the game will still be fully playable. This may also occur when some older Game Boy games are played on the Game Boy Color.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Make sure you are using only licensed accessories with your system. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with Nintendo systems, and may not work correctly.
  2. Make sure nothing is incorrectly plugged into the headphone port found at the bottom of the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color. (e.g. battery pack, AC Adapter, headphones).
  3. Adjust volume on the system. Please Note: Due to the smaller size of the speaker for Game Boy Color , the maximum volume will be lower than on the original Game Boy design.
  4. Try a new set of batteries.
