Happy 2nd Anniversary, Pokémon UNITE! Mewtwo is ready to celebrate
24 July 2023
On 21st July, the Pokémon UNITE game celebrates its second anniversary. We’d like to take a moment to thank all you fans out there—we really appreciate the time you’ve put into the game and hope you keep enjoying it. Thanks for making this year special!
And for those who haven’t tried their hands at a Unite Battle yet, now might be a good time to enter the fray. Let’s start with a recap of what the game is all about.
About Pokémon UNITE
Pokémon UNITE is a free-to-start game where Pokémon Trainers face off in 5-on-5 team battles. Trainers can deck out their Pokémon in holographic outfits (called Holowear), obtain licenses to use specific Pokémon in battle, strategise with powerful Unite Moves, and enjoy cross-platform support for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions of the game. You can download the Nintendo Switch version using the link at the bottom of this article.
Mewtwo mayhem
Now for some Mega news.
As part of the 2nd Anniversary celebration, the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo is set to make its descent in Pokémon UNITE. Two separate Unite licenses are planned for Mewtwo—Unite License X: Mewtwo, which allows it to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X, and Unite License Y: Mewtwo, which allows it to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo Y. Please note that these licenses will be available at two different times:
Unite License X: Mewtwo is now available.
Unite License Y: Mewtwo is scheduled to be available mid-August.
A new type of battle
In addition to Mewtwo, a completely new type of battle will also arrive for the 2nd Anniversary, complete with a new map and wild Pokémon. Please check https://unite.pokemon.com/en-au/ for more details.
