Add Account With Confirmation Code

Description:

Instructions on creating and linking a Nintendo Account to a Nintendo Switch console with a 5-digit verification code.

Additional Information:

  • When creating a new Nintendo Account to link to a Nintendo Switch console, you will be given the option to use a 5-digit verification code to complete the process.

  • This method is only available when creating a new Nintendo Account on Nintendo Switch.

Important:

  • This process is optional. If you don’t want to use the verification code, or the code is missing / not working correctly, follow the standard steps for adding a Nintendo Account to a new user account or existing user account on Nintendo Switch.

  • The 5-digit verification code is different than the 4-digit e-mail verification code you receive when setting up a Nintendo Account. For assistance with entering the 4-digit code, click here.

Complete These Steps:

  1. When linking a Nintendo Account to a user account (new or existing), select “Create Account” when prompted, to set up a new Nintendo Account.

  2. Select “Send account-creation instructions via e-mail.”

  3. Enter your date of birth, then select “OK.”

Is the person that will be using the account age 16 or older?

  3. An e-mail will be sent that explains how to set up a Nintendo Account on your PC or smart device. When the e-mail arrives, click the URL included in the e-mail.

    • The email should arrive shortly, and expires in an hour from when it’s sent.

    • If you don’t receive the e-mail, please follow the standard steps for adding a Nintendo Account to a new user account or existing user account on Nintendo Switch.

  4. On your smart device or PC, click “An account for myself.”

  5. Create a Nintendo Account for yourself.
