How to Raise or Lower the Maximum Headphone Volume

Instructions for raising or lowering the maximum volume for headphones or speakers connected to the Nintendo Switch console's audio jack, USB port, or wireless Bluetooth connection.

Additional Information

  • This feature does not affect the volume on the console's speakers.

  • Be mindful that volume changes may occur when using the same Bluetooth audio device across multiple devices including Nintendo Switch.

Complete these steps

  1. From the HOME Menu select System Settings.

  2. Navigate to the System section, then set the Lower Max Headphone Volume option.

    • When this option is set to Off the maximum output volume from audio devices connected to the audio jack, USB port, or wireless Bluetooth connection will increase.

    • Conversely, when this feature is On the maximum output volume from audio devices connected to the audio jack, USB port, or wireless Bluetooth connection will decrease.
