How to Transfer a Supervised Account to a Different Family Group

Instructions on transferring a supervised Nintendo Account from one family group to another.

Additional Information:

  • To transfer a supervised Nintendo Account, the new family group admin must meet the following requirements:

    • The person that account is transferred to must be the existing admin for their family group (OR not yet part of a family group).

    • The admin must be 18+ years old. If they are too young, they will need to transfer the admin role to a family group member aged 18+.

    • The Nintendo Account country for the new admin must be the same country as the supervised account.

    • The new family group must have less than 8 members.

Complete These Steps:

  1. Have the admin that supervised accounts are being moved FROM log in to their Nintendo Account and visit https://accounts.nintendo.com/family/transfer_children_request.

  2. A list of supervised accounts within the group will appear. Check the box next to each supervised account that you want to move, then "OK."

  3. Enter the e-mail address for the admin you want to transfer the accounts TO, then "OK."

    • The request can't be cancelled, so make sure to enter the correct e-mail address.

    • If the Nintendo Account you want to transfer to does not meet the requirements listed above, the request will not be sent. Please verify that the e-mail belongs to an admin aged 18+, is in the same country, with less than 8 members in their family group.

  4. Review the information about transferring supervised accounts, then click "Send e-mail."

    • A verification e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address that you entered.

    • If you need to change the e-mail address, you can repeat steps 1-4 to send the verification to a different e-mail address. Have the new admin accept as soon as they get the e-mail. Once the new admin accepts, any previous verification emails will be invalid.

  5. The new admin will need to complete the following steps within 24 hours. If it has been longer than 24 hours, the original admin can repeat steps 1-4 to resend the verification e-mail.

    1. Open the e-mail and click the verification link.

    2. Click "Change account" and enter your password when prompted.

    3. Agree to the terms and click "Accept transfer into family group" to transfer the supervised account(s) into the new admin's group. Click "OK.
