Joy-Con Do Not Charge While Attached to the Charging Grip

Description:

One of both Joy-Con controllers do not charge while attached to the Joy-Con Charging Grip.

Additional Information:

  • The Joy-Con Grip (model No. HAC-011) is included with the Nintendo Switch bundle and allows you to combine both Joy-Con into a traditional-style controller. This included accessory does not support charging the Joy-Con controllers.

  • The Joy-Con Charging Grip (model No. HAC-012) is sold separately and allows you to keep playing while you are charging your Joy-Con.

  • While the Joy-Con controllers are charging, the recharge LED on the Charging Grip will remain lit. Once they are fully charged, the recharge LED will shut off.

Important:

If the Joy-Con Charging Grip is not working while it is connected to the USB ports on the Nintendo Switch dock, troubleshoot the dock by clicking here.

What to Do:

  1. Reset the AC adapter by disconnecting it from both ends for at least 30 seconds.

    • While performing this step, verify you are using the Nintendo Switch AC adapter (model No. HAC-002) and check for any cuts, kinks, frayed cables, etc.

    • If any damage is found, or if a different charger is being used, replacing it with the correct accessory may resolve the problem.

  2. Verify that the Joy-Con controllers can be charged while attached to the Nintendo Switch console.

    • Attach the Joy-Con to the console and connect the Nintendo Switch AC adapter.
