Bring home the Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game today!

Ready? Go!

The Nintendo World Championships: NES™ Edition game is coming to you live from your living room, and it’s bringing all the 1990s feels with it!

Start testing your speedrunning skills in over 150 bite-sized challenges across NES™ system games*. Relive memorable moments in classics like The Legend of Zelda™, Super Mario Bros.™ 3, Donkey Kong™, Metroid™, and other games. From gobbling up an enemy in the Kirby’s Adventure™ game to collecting coins in the Super Mario Bros.™ game, you’ll need to complete each challenge as quickly as you can.

Try to beat your own score or gather your pals for a bit of friendly competition**—all from the comfort of your couch.

Put your skills to the test

With bite-sized challenges, you can feel like a champ without having to master an entire game!

Select a challenge: There are more than 150 challenges from 13 different games to choose from. The objectives in each can range from simple (like collecting coins) to harder tasks (like clearing an entire course). The real test comes down to how fast you can finish each challenge!

See how it’s done: Before you get started, there will be a video clip showing how to complete the challenge. You can use this info as a guide for your own run! Once you’re feeling confident you know what to do, just press Start.

Speedrun like the wind: Complete challenges to earn a letter ranking. If you play a challenge again, your previous best run will play side by side with your current run. See if you can set a new personal best!

Unlock more stuff: Completing challenges will earn you in-game coins. You can use these to unlock even more challenges and icons from all 13 NES games featured in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition.

Legend Challenges: Once you start to feel confident in your skills (or just feel like trying something different), check out the more difficult Legend Challenges. These can be pretty tough, so if you find yourself having a hard time, check out the Classified Information section under the demo video. Here, you can find helpful tips and tricks for how to complete the challenge or improve your time.

Compete with up to 8 players or solo!

Aim for the top of your living-room podium with modes you can play with friends and on your own.

Challenge your friends: Up to 8 players** can enjoy Party Mode—all on a single system! Take on individual challenges or run through a series of moments in themed Challenge packs. And with an automatic rewind feature to undo mistakes, even completely new players can compete.

Challenge yourself: Make your way through challenges at your own pace to set personal bests. Compete with yourself to see how fast you can go!

Compete against players around the world

With a Nintendo Switch Online*** membership, you can put your speedrunning times against your friends or players from around the world in World Championship Mode. Aim for the top spot on the leaderboards in rotating weekly challenges. Do you have what it takes to best the champion? (Psst—we believe in you!)

Meanwhile, in Survival Mode, you’ll be able to race against the ghost data of seven other players. Choose your division (Silver for easy, Gold for hard), then rush to be the first in three rounds of challenges. But watch out—after each round, half of the players will be eliminated. Who will be the last player standing?

But wait, there’s more!

Each week, players can participate in timed online events. These rotating challenges will be available in both World Championship Mode and Survival Modes. You can check out the first event from now until July 22 at 1:59 a.m. PT.

So, what do you say, champ? Are you up for the challenge?
