Extend your hospitality with a little ink in the next Splatoon 3 Splatfest!

Hello again, fellow researchers! The Squid Research Lab is dedicated to keeping you up to date with the latest in the Splatoon™ 3 game. This time, we’re welcoming new details on the latest Splatfest*!

For those who may not know, Splatfests are special in-game events in Splatoon 3. They’re a time to experience a festive atmosphere while you give your opinion on themes that spark great debate and then fight for your side.

And a fight there shall be, because this Splatfest will ask a hard-hitting, divisive question: What is your go-to greeting? Do you hold on to the classic handshake? Maybe you prefer the too-cool-for-school no-look fist bump. Or perhaps you just prefer to hug it out?

Event info

Begins: Friday, Nov. 17 at 4:00 p.m. PT

Ends: Sunday, Nov. 19 at 4:00 p.m. PT

How do I choose a side?

You can choose a side starting Nov. 10 during the Sneak Peek period. Head to the little stall in Splatsville to choose a side, get your in-game T-shirt, and start representing your pick. You’ll be on this side for the entire event, so make sure it’s the greeting style you’d take a splat for.

Oh, one more thing for the Sneak Peek and Splatfest timeframes: Every time you gain a level in your Catalog, you are also given something called a Conch Shell. These can be redeemed at the machine in the Lobby for fun little goodies. The number of conch shells collected by each team also impacts the final results, so redeem early and redeem often!

What else changes during a Splatfest?

A bunch of stuff does! In addition to how the surroundings look and sound, these Splatfest Battle types will replace the normal ones: Open, Pro, and (halfway through the event) Tricolor. In “Open,” you can enter a match with a group of friends. Pick “Pro” if you’re more of a solo player—everyone on the teams will be randomized.

What do you get for winning a Splatfest?

Everyone who participates will get Super Sea Snails after the Splatfest, with the winning side getting even more. Talk to Murch who hangs outside the Lobby if you’re not sure what to do with those (the short version is that Super Sea Snails can be used as a shortcut to upgrade your gear and get abilities that match your needs better).

Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass

Oh, and if you have something called the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass DLC**, don’t forget that you can take a scenic little trip to Inkopolis Plaza to see how those fancy city dwellers celebrate. We have some very reliable ink-fo that the dazzling Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, will also be performing there during the Splatfest!

Secret pro tip

This is confidential, but the people must know! If you’re in the market for ability chunks, talk to Murch during the Sneak Peek and the Splatfest. Scrubbing equipment off your Splatfest Tee is much cheaper than normal, so you can scrub-a-dub way more than usual and get way more ability chunks. Let the good chunks roll!

Now, go out there and serve up a bit of chaos, researchers! Good luck!
