July update! Two Game Boy games are now available for Nintendo Switch Online members

Looking for some classic gaming? Nintendo Switch Online members already have instant access to a large library of Game Boy™, Super NES™, and NES™ games—including classics like Kirby's Dream Land™, Super Mario World™, and The Legend of Zelda™: A Link to the Past™.

Speaking of pointy-eared Hyrulians, two classic Game Boy games from the Legend of Zelda series have just been added today! This dynamic duo of games is extra special because they can interact with each other. Let’s take a deeper look, shall we?

The Legend of Zelda™: Oracle of Ages™

Transcend the very fabric of time with the Harp of Ages.

Rescue Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, to save the Land of Labrynna from Veran, Sorceress of Shadows, who will plunge the world into an endless night. Traveling through time presents Link with special challenges. For example, if a river blocks Link's path in the present, he can travel to the past and move a stone, redirecting the flow of water. And if he plants seeds in the past, he'll find full-grown trees and vines waiting for him when he returns to the present!

The Legend of Zelda™: Oracle of Seasons™

Create order from chaos with the Rod of Seasons.

Stop a power-hungry general named Onox, and rescue Din, the Oracle of Seasons, to save the troubled land of Holodrum. In this adventure, Link will need to change the seasons to overcome puzzling obstacles. So if Link finds a small plant at the bottom of a cliff, try changing the season to spring, and Link can use the newly grown flower to get a boost up to the top. Or if Link faces a deep lake, use the Rod of Seasons to shift into winter, letting Link walk over the ice.

Play both games for the complete experience

As you can tell, each game is its own, self-contained thing—they have distinct stories, settings, and characters. However, these games also hold a secret. Once you beat one of them, you’ll get a password that can be used in the other game, allowing the two games to interact with each other! We won’t spoil specifics, but this may unlock certain items, spur certain characters to remember past actions, and expand some story elements. We recommend playing the games in this way if you’re interested in a more connected experience!
