Whoa there! Saddle up with a herd of horse-filled games!

Horses—these faithful steeds have been essential companions since the dawn of time (or maybe a little after that). Whether it’s giving us a handy lift across a field or being a buddy during tough times, horses are truly a-neigh-zing creatures.

Since there are many games with horses out there, we did have to rein in this list a bit*. But nevertheless, you can be sure that the following games have some serious horse power.

Happy gaming, everyone!

Star in a hilarious adventure alongside your family and friends…and a horse! In this game, you can cast your friends, family, or anyone you choose as you try to bring down the face-stealing Dark Lord. As you may have expected, a courageous horse will also join your party at a certain point in the game (and yes, you can customize them). If you want to get started, the horse also appears in the free demo!

You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Building a stable in the game will allow you to keep and ride your very own horse buddy.

Play as Fenyx, a new, winged demigod, on a quest to save the Greek gods. The fate of the world is at stake and you are the gods’ last hope…so you’ll probably want to speed up travel by using your trusty mount! In addition to horses, you can find and tame other horse-like creatures, like a mighty pegasus or unicorn.

Take to the battlefield with Wargroove, a turn-based strategy game for up to 4 players. Choose your Commander and wage war on battling factions, using your ‘groove’ to strategically sway the fight. A careful tactician will also know when to send in the cavalry…literally.

In most horse games, you ride a horse. But what if you want to BE a horse? Ultimate Chicken Horse is a party platformer where you and your friends build the level as you play, placing deadly traps before trying to reach the end of the level. And yes, true to its name, you can also play as a horse.

Travel across vast fields, through forests, and to mountain peaks as you discover what has become of the kingdom of Hyrule in this Open-Air adventure. And do you know what makes travelling easier? Uh yeah, I think you get it. Just don’t forget to feed your horse an in-game snack every now and then!

*Some might say that we had to…hold our horses.
