The next Splatoon 3 Splatfest event may make you a believer!
Hello again, fellow researchers! The Squid Research Lab is dedicated to keeping you up to date with the latest in the Splatoon™ 3 game. Typically, we are all about hard science here, but this update is filled with wild rumors of even wilder creatures!
But I’m getting ahead of myself. First thing is first: The next Splatfest* will be Fri., March 31 at 5 p.m. PT to Sun., April 2 at 5 p.m. PT. Splatfests are special events where you can experience a festive atmosphere, present your opinion on debatable themes, and fight for your beliefs!
The question for this Splatfest will push the very boundaries of the known world. Which of these is real—Nessie, Aliens, or Bigfoot? Would you rather dive into sea monster speculations? Or maybe blast off with extraterrestrial expectations? Or perhaps you just want to go big for Bigfoot? This one is less about science and more about feeling.
How do I choose a side?
You can choose a side right now since we’re in the Sneak Peek period. After you start the game, go to the little stall to choose your destiny. You’ll be on the side you select for the entire event, so make sure before you pick!
After choosing, you are then given an in-game t-shirt that’s worn during the event. This shirt come with a special ability: Ability Doubler (which, you guessed it, doubles the effect of other gear abilities attached to this gear).
Oh, one more thing for the Sneak Peek and Splatfest timeframes: Every time you gain a level in your Catalog, you are also given something called a Conch Shell. These guys can be redeemed at the machine in the Lobby for some fun little goodies. The number of conch shells collected by each team also impacts the final results, so redeem early and redeem often!
What else changes during a Splatfest?
A bunch of stuff does! In addition to how your surroundings look and sound, specific Splatfest Battle types will replace the normal ones: Open, Pro, and (halfway through the event) Tricolor. In “Open,” you can enter a match with a group of friends. Pick “Pro” if you’re more of a solo player—everyone on the teams will be randomized.
What do you get for winning a Splatfest?
Everyone who participates will get Super Sea Snails after the Splatfest, with the winning side getting more. Talk to Murch who hangs outside the Lobby if you’re not sure what to do with those (the short version is that Super Sea Snails can be used as a shortcut to upgrade your gear and get abilities that match your needs better).
Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass
Oh, and if you have something called the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass DLC**, don’t forget that you can take a scenic little trip to Inkopolis Plaza to see how those fancy city dwellers celebrate. We have some very reliable ink-fo that the dazzling Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, will also be performing there during the Splatfest!
We wish everyone the best of luck during this Splatfest of legend. Or is that Splatfest of myth? Surely, it’s not science…or is it?! I’m going to go sit down.
