Get some Splatoon tips ahead of the first Splatfest this weekend!
02/07/2015
Whether you’re into the thumping bass of rock or pop music’s catchy tunas, it’s time to put your taste on the line in the first Splatoon Splatfest, happening this weekend between 19:00 on Saturday and 19:00 on Sunday (South African local time)!
Getting involved is easy: head to Inkopolis Plaza and pledge your allegiance to your favoured style at the Ballot Box. Once you’ve drummed up the courage, head to the Lobby and join your fellow rockers or pop princes and princesses in heart-pounding online* battles of musical might!
Splatfests have their own ranking system, so the more matches you play and win, the higher you’ll rise. When the ink dries on the final matches and the results are calculated, players on the winning team will walk away with a Super Sea Snail! This special item can add a slot to your gear, or clear its existing abilities, letting you level it up again to see if you get different ones. But even if you’re on the losing team, you can still win a Super Sea Snail if you attain a top Title, so do your level best!
Like all good festivals, Splatfests are at their best when there’s a lot going on, so to keep the tempo of battle high if there’s a shortage of players on either team, you might be pitted against fans of the same music. But don’t worry: you’ll still earn Splatfest points in those matches, and when it’s all over, only the results of rock vs. pop battles count towards deciding the overall winner. So don’t hold anything back in matches against those who share your taste!
If you’re launching into the Splatfest this weekend, make sure you head to our Support section for some handy hints that, when mastered, should help you represent your musical taste with aplomb!
