Collapsed and without a memory, Robin is rescued by Chrom, the prince of the Halidom of Ylisse, and soon joins his forces. After demonstrating a remarkable aptitude for strategy, he begins to work as a tactician for the Shepherds.

Robin is actually the son of Validar, leader of the Grimleal who worship the Fell Dragon Grima.
The brand of Grima on the back of his right hand is proof of his original purpose: to be a vessel for the Fell Dragon's resurrection. It is because of this lineage that Validar is able to seize control of his mind.
Until Lucina travels back in time to rewrite history, Robin is doomed to fall under Validar's control, slay Chrom in battle, and awaken as Grima.
