Son of Eliwood, marquess of Pherae, a part of the Lycia region on the continent of Elibe.
Roy joins forces with the Lycian League to put a stop to the kingdom of Bern's aggressive invasions of its neighbors. As leader of the League's forces in battle, he proves himself to be a general of incredible skill—so much so that the kingdom of Etruria, one of the two greatest powers on Elibe, entrusts him with the command of their armed forces. In addition to his skill in battle, Roy also demonstrates a dauntless commitment to justice. He stands up for what is right, even against the king of Bern himself, Zephiel. Despite his strength and conviction, Roy is also known for his gentle demeanor—he prefers to fight only when it is absolutely necessary.
Roy learns that Zephiel, who speaks outwardly of liberation, actually intends to resurrect dragons and cede control of the world to them. He amasses a collection of dragon-slaying weapons, including the legendary Binding Blade, and embarks on a series of intense battles to prevent that outcome.
Roy's keen insight often allows him to glimpse the true nature of things, including others' hidden intentions. Despite his station, he has an unassuming demeanor and a willingness to treat noble and commoner alike with humility and respect. These traits win him a great many allies, whose assistance proves to be key in the battle to restore peace.
