Join the Utsugi Detective Agency and begin your investigation into a bizarre crime

A vicious crime. An eerie smiling face. A brutal urban legend.

Who is Emio – The Smiling Man?

The Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club™ game is a chilling adventure where you’ll become a member of the Utsugi Detective Agency. You’ll be tasked with solving a bizarre crime that leaves a student dead, his head covered by…a smiley-faced paper bag? Hmm…The unsettling scene bears a striking resemblance to a string of unsolved murders from 18 years ago—each connected to the urban legend of a serial killer, Emio – The Smiling Man.

Does this smiling man really exist…or is the culprit simply continuing this urban legend’s legacy?

Looks like it’s time to start questioning some witnesses...or maybe even a suspect!

Put your investigative instincts to the test

It’ll take some keen sleuthing to solve this mystery. From the victim’s classmates to teachers, ask questions, gather leads, and travel between locations of interest to comb them for potential clues.

Uncover clues by moving a magnifying glass around the screen and examining your environment or people. Dig further by selecting your course of action from a series of options, like “Ask/Listen,” “Look/Examine,” and “Travel.” Get enough information to push forward with your investigation, then access different areas and meet more people connected to the case.

If you hit a snag in your investigation, consult your notebook to review your findings.
