Free update for Super Mario Party! Online play comes to the board game mode
The Super Mario Party™ game is getting a little more online-y*! After installing the free game update, online play** will be added to the following modes:
Mario Party: The iconic board game mode where you roll dice to move and try to finish with the most Stars.
Partner Party: A 2 vs. 2 team edition of Mario Party where you share your dice rolls with your partner and have free movement.
Minigames: This is the place to go if you just want to focus on the minigames themselves.
Previously, online play was limited to Online Mariothon, where you challenged opponents to short minigame-offs. So, if you’re looking to hop online and show off your minigame mastery, this update might be for you!
How to update your game
It’s quite possible that your game has already updated itself, but it’s easy to check. Just select the game’s icon on the HOME Menu, press the + Button, and select Software Update (internet connection required). If you need to update, you may be asked to restart the game.
About Super Mario Party
Whether playing solo or with friends, there’s a mode for every party! Take turns rolling dice and racing across the game board in the 4-player Mario Party mode, or team up for Partner Party. Journey down a path of 80 minigame challenges in the single-player Challenge Road mode. Other modes like the cooperative River Survival*** and the rhythm-based Sound Stage provide even more twists. It’s Mario’s biggest party yet!
*Please note that “online-y” isn’t actually a word. People may give you strange looks if you use it in a public setting.
