About Nintendo DS

The unique technology contained within Nintendo DS is what makes Brain Training possible.

Nintendo DS has two screens - the lower of which is touch-sensitive. By holding the system sideways, like a book, users can write on the Touch Screen with the stylus as if you were writing with pen and paper. (Left-handed users can turn the Nintendo DS around so that the Touch Screen is on the left side.)

Nintendo DS also features an in-built microphone so you can perform some of the exercises simply by speaking. Plus, Nintendo DS’s wireless communication technology allows for up to 16 people to take part in a Calculation Battle using just one copy of the game. It is also possible to send a demo version of the game to another Nintendo DS.

New Brain Age Test

More Brain Training puts the DS’s Touch Screen and Microphone to even greater use, and even your hearing will get a workout!

Not all exercises listed here will be available from the start, but if you keep training your brain on a regular basis, new challenges will open up for you to try!

Rock, Paper, Scissors

You must win or lose various rounds of Rock, Paper, Scissors against the DS. For example, sometimes the DS will show you a rock and tell you that you must lose. You then say 'scissors' into the DS Microphone.

Continuous Countdown

The DS shows one number between 1 and 9, and you must repeatedly subtract this number from a bigger number shown. If the number to subtract is 5 and the starting number is 30, the answers would be 25, 20, 15, 10, 5.

Speedy Symbols

How good are your recognition skills? In this test, players will reference a chart that matches a number with a symbol. The other screen will show you a number. You then have to write the correct symbol for that number.

Memory Addition

Additions between two numbers are shown. In the next problem, one of those numbers is hidden. Players must remember the number that is erased in each addition to write the correct result of the newly formed addition.

Memorise 5x5

Time to jog those memory skills! This challenge asks you to memorise 25 numbers that are placed at 25 different spots on the screen. After two minutes, the real challenge starts of trying to recall those numbers.

Highest Number

Different numbers are displayed in different sizes. You’re asked to touch the number with the highest value. Of course, the bigger number in size is not necessarily the one with the highest value. Don’t be tricked!

New Daily Training

Once your DS Brain Age is determined, try your hand at these challenging offerings and see how your results improve over time.

Missing Symbols

It’s a twist on the popular 'Calculations x 20' exercise from the original Brain Training. You need to solve 20 maths problems as fast as you can. But, instead of computing numbers, you will be given the numbers and asked to include  the correct symbol (+−×÷ ).

Masterpiece Recital

More Brain Training isn’t all about words and numbers. In this test, the Touch Screen features a piano keyboard. Players must follow a music sheet shown on the other screen and press the corresponding keys on the keyboard.

Word Scramble

A set of letters are scrambled. You need to find the word that can be written with each set of letters. The words you’ll find are uncommon in nature, putting your vocabulary skills to the test, too!

Correct Change

Counting money is simple. But can you do it quickly and accurately? You’re given a price, and you must give the correct change based on the payment given for that price. Figure out the correct change, then count the coins!

Word Blend

Write down what you thought you heard! Several words are being spoken simultaneously. You must write down all words spoken. The DS can repeat the words and give hints, but your score will suffer because of it.

Days and Dates

The DS asks several questions based on the day of the week and the date that is set on your DS. When the DS asks a question like 'the day of the week yesterday,' you need to write down what day yesterday was.

Finishing Position

It’s all about how you finish. In this test, different figures run toward a finish line. Your job will be to determine in which place the main figure finished in the race. How many runners did the figure pass/get passed by?

Determine the Time

Sometimes it’s not so easy to tell what time it is. This challenge shows you various analogue clocks and watches, some are mirrored or rotated (or both). You must write down the correct time shown in hours and minutes.

Calculate the Height

Estimation and memory take centre stage in this challenge. Blocks fall into a pit that is hidden from view. From memory, you must remember the various heights of the blocks, then answer questions correctly.
