Pokémon Diamond

System: Nintendo DS Release date: 27/07/2007

As of May 20th, 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service was discontinued and it is now no longer possible to use online features of Nintendo DS/DSi and Wii software such as online play, matchmaking, competitions and leaderboards. For more information, please visit our Support section.

Exclusively on Nintendo DS, the new generation of Pokémon is taking the world by storm in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl! With more than 100 new Pokémon, Touch Screen gameplay and online play over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, this is the biggest Pokémon adventure ever! Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl challenge players to explore the Sinnoh region in an incredibly deep RPG adventure. New Pokémon are everywhere! Making their debut are such Pokémon as Mime Jr., Lucario, and Weavile, and the three starter Pokémon are new as well. Players will choose from Fire-type Chimchar, Water-type Piplup, and Grass-type Turtwig to begin their adventure.

One of the best aspects of Pokémon games is the ability to trade and battle with other Trainers, and Nintendo DS lets you connect with other Pokémon fans wirelessly, either locally or via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Players can now trade and battle with other Trainers around the world! Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl also feature voice chat capabilities so players can communicate with their online friends. In Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, Trainers can also earn the ability to play with Pokémon they’ve caught in previous Game Boy Advance Pokémon games Pokémon Emerald, Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen, Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire. The new Pokémon adventure is big, it’s exciting, it’s on the DS—and it’s going to be everywhere!

  • The Legendaries are larger than life! Dialga is an enormous Pokémon that is said to be able to manipulate time, while the giant Palkia is said to have the power to distort space.
  • The DS Touch Screen has improved on the Pokémon gameplay system. When players choose an attack, the Touch Screen displays the important information – the move name, the move type and how many Power Points players have left. The item-select screen is broken down into categories, and all of the items are clearly organised within each section.
  • Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl introduce visual differences for Pokémon depending on their gender.
  • Diamond or Pearl? For the most part, whether you play one game or the other, the gameplay will be the same. But most importantly, there are several Pokémon that will only appear in one version or the other, so you will have to trade with a friend to complete your Pokédex!
