Wii Music

System: Wii Release date: 14/11/2008

Even if you’ve never played a note in your life, Wii Music can help you get in tune with your inner musician. You and up to three friends can take the stage, side-by-side, to share the spotlight and make your own brand of beautiful music!

Wii Music lets you play more than 60 musical instruments, all taking the form of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers. Whatever instrument you select – from bagpipes to banjos, drums to double bass – playing is a simple case of making moves with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. To play guitar, just strum as though you had a six string in your hands, making faster movements to play louder and pressing buttons to alter your style. With the flute, just hold the Wii Remote like you would the real thing and tap the 1 and 2 Buttons whilst moving the controller up and down to alter the sound.

There are several ways to make melodies with Wii Music. You can choose your instrument and play along with more than 50 songs from classical anthems to huge pop hits, or you can grab some friends and simply jam. In Jam mode you can choose to Improvise in the rehearsal rooms, getting to grips with any instrument you like before taking the stage. Quick Jam puts a random instrument in your hands and chooses a song for you to play along with, whilst Custom Jam lets you make your own decisions about what song to play, which instrument you want to use and how many band members you want by your side.

To help you get tuned-up on the instruments of Wii Music, a series of music lessons will teach you how to successfully improvise within 11 different musical genres like jazz and reggae, whilst games like Pitch Perfect will teach you more about the fundamentals of music theory in a fun setting. On top of that, the ability to conduct your very own orchestra with the Wii Remote or let loose on a full virtual drum kit that makes use of the Wii Balance Board ensures there’s something to satisfy everyone’s musical tastes.

With Wii Music, you can share your sounds with audiences around the world. As you play, your performances are recorded, and you can send these concert videos to other Wii owners via WiiConnect24. Some groups, however, like to spend more time in the studio. Wii Music lets you and your friends make different arrangements of songs. You can pick up a new instrument, play a song in a new way and then edit that performance into your concert video. Your friends can also do that same thing, adding their compositions to your concert, making Wii Music a real collaborative effort!
Join friends and family under the spotlight and let your creative side loose with Wii Music!
