Unable to Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher
The information in this article can help if you receive an error while trying to redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher.
What to Do:
- Close Nintendo eShop or, if you are trying to redeem the voucher on the official Nintendo website, sign out of your Nintendo Account and sign back in using the Nintendo Account that was used to purchase the set of vouchers, then try to redeem the voucher again.
- Vouchers can only be redeemed by the same Nintendo Account that was used to purchase them.
- Verify that your Nintendo Switch Game Voucher hasn't already expired or been used.
- Vouchers expire one year after their date of purchase.
- To check if you have any unredeemed vouchers:
- Visit https://ec.nintendo.com/my/membership. Available vouchers, along with their expiry date, will appear below your Nintendo Switch Online membership information.
- Alternatively, using your Nintendo Switch console, launch Nintendo eShop from the HOME Menu. Select your user icon in the upper-right, then select Nintendo Switch Online on the left. Scroll down slightly to view your available vouchers.
- If all of your vouchers have already been redeemed, you can review your Nintendo eShop Purchase History to view when your vouchers were used.
- Verify your Nintendo Switch Online membership status.
- Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers can only be redeemed using a Nintendo Account with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership that is not a free trial.
- Make sure your Nintendo Account country/region setting matches the country/region where the vouchers were purchased.
- Vouchers can only be redeemed in the same country/region as they were purchased.
- Check the list of games available to purchase with a voucher to confirm that the game you wish to purchase is eligible.
- Even if a listed game will be eligible in the future, you will not be able to redeem a voucher for it until it is available for purchase or pre-order. Please try again after the game is available for purchase.
- Locate the game in Nintendo eShop and confirm that it has not already been purchased on your Nintendo Switch console.
- If a game is listed as "Purchased", it can be redownloaded at no cost by the Nintendo Account that was used to purchase it.
