Wii U Console Battery Removal
Step-by-step instructions for removing the battery from a Wii U console.
For information on disposing of the battery, contact your local solid waste authority.
Notes:
- The Wii U console uses a single button cell battery.
- To avoid damage to the screw or threads, use a screwdriver that is appropriate for the screw (crosshead style, size #00).
Removing the battery
- Make sure that the disc LED is not on.
- If the disc LED is illuminated, press the EJECT Button on the front of the console to eject the Wii U disc.
- Turn the power off and unplug the Wii U AC Adapter from the wall socket.
- Turn the console over and remove the battery cover.
- The battery cover is designed so the screw can be loosened, but not fully removed.
- Remove the button cell battery.
Disposing of used batteries
Please bring used batteries to the nearest recycling centre.
