Can anyone make Toy-Con?

Building Toy-Con is easy! Just follow the interactive, step-by-step instructions on the Nintendo Switch console and go at your own pace. You can even zoom in, rotate the camera, and rewind the instructions.

You can also use a handy technique called "advance folding".

Advance folding means doing the folds before putting the smaller parts together. This technique will make your creases firm and make the finished Toy-Con look neat.

You'll learn all sorts of useful tricks and tips as you follow the interactive instructions.

Do I need anything else to build the Toy-Con?

Everything you need is included in the box – even for removing the parts from the cardboard sheets...

...and combining them together!

Toy-Con don't require glue or scissors to build. This means children can safely assemble them. However, we recommend you keep your building area tidy to avoid losing any parts. Parental supervision is advised for children under 10 years.

What should I do if I make a mistake?

If you make a mistake while building a Toy-Con, you can rewind the interactive instructions to re-do the step. You can also rotate and zoom in to see where you might have gone wrong.

If the cardboard breaks...

...you can fix it up with tape. If you use decorative tape, it'll make your Toy-Con more unique!

If small parts get bent, like this...

...you can reinforce them with leftover cardboard.

Nintendo Labo is designed so that any mistakes or damage can be easily repaired. Take a look at the helpful tips within the software on how to repair your Toy-Con.

How old do you need to be to build each Toy-Con? How long does it take?

We recommend that children below the age of 10 are supervised by a parent or guardian while they make the Toy-Con. Children aged 10 or older should be able to build by themselves, but it's always more fun to do it together!

Here's a handy guide of the amount of time it takes to build each Toy-Con. Smaller Toy-Con, like the RC Car, can be made in about 10 minutes, whereas larger Toy-Con may take three to four hours. For these larger Toy-Con, we recommend that players take breaks between steps, then come back another time to continue building.
