Attaching/Removing a Joy-Con AA Battery Pack
You can attach a Joy-Con AA battery pack to your Joy-Con
and use batteries to charge the controller while you play.

Attaching a battery pack

Use the + and − marks to confirm that you have the correct Joy-Con AA battery pack for the Joy-Con.
*As with the Joy-Con controllers themselves, Joy-Con AA battery packs come in "Left" and "Right" versions. The left battery pack has a − mark and the right one has a + mark.

Use the Joy-Con side rail to press the Joy-Con AA battery pack release button.

Aligning the side rail, slide the Joy-Con downwards.

Slide the Joy-Con all the way in until you hear a click. Check that the Joy-Con is firmly attached.
If attached correctly, the Joy-Con will begin charging, and the Joy-Con AA battery pack charging indicator will light up in orange.

When playing a game that involves swinging or waving a Joy-Con about, make sure the strap lock is tightened so the strap cannot slip off your wrist, and hold the Joy-Con tightly.
*Before you begin gaming, please take note of who and what is around you.
Removing a battery pack
You should detach the Joy-Con from the Joy-Con AA battery pack when not in use.
Even when you're not using the Joy-Con, the battery pack will continue providing it with a small amount of charge.
You can avoid needless battery consumption by detaching the Joy-Con from the battery pack when you're not using it.

Use your finger to move the Joy-Con AA battery pack release button to the side.

Continuing to hold the release button, slowly slide the Joy-Con upwards by 1 - 2 cm.

Slide the Joy-Con all the way up.
