How to Update the Controller Firmware

Important

• The option to update controller firmware is available for consoles with system menu version 4.0.0. or higher.

• In order to update the controller firmware, the controller must be paired to the console and powered on.

Note: The controller firmware can be updated while the controller is attached to the Nintendo Switch console or while it is connected wirelessly.

Complete these steps

1. Ensure your console has the latest system update installed.

2. From the HOME Menu select System Settings, then navigate to Controllers and Sensors.

3. Select Update Controllers to begin updating the controller's firmware. If multiple controllers are paired to the console, the firmware will be updated one controller at a time.

Important: If the update stops before it can be completed, try this step again.
