Connections - LAN connection with more than two consoles
A LAN-connection enables you to link several Nintendo GameCubes together, so that each player can play on their own TV.
LAN is an abbreviation for "Local Area Network" and refers to limited areas like households, schools or companies.
YOU NEED:
- 2 Nintendo GameCubes
- 1 Nintendo GameCube controller for each player
- 2 Nintendo GameCube broadband adapters (available separately)
- 2 TVs
- 2 copies of an LAN-suitable Nintendo GameCube game
- 2 Memory Cards (if you want to save game data)
- 1 10BaseT compatible crossover cable plus RJ45 connector plug (available separately)
MAKING A LAN-CONNECTION WITH TWO GAMECUBES:
- Connect one Nintendo GameCube to each TV and insert the same LAN-compatible game in each GameCube.
- Plug one broadband adapter into each Nintendo GameCube by removing the covering named "Serial Port 1" from the bottom of the switched-off GameCubes, and slide the broadband adapter into the gap there until it slots in completely.
- On one of the GameCubes, insert the end of your crossover-cable into the socket on the broadband adapter (on the side of the Nintendo GameCube). Plug the other end of the crossover cable into the broadband adapter socket of the second Nintendo GameCube.
- Switch on both Nintendo GameCubes - ensuring you have connected the consoles correctly and linked them together.
The broadband adapter can be left connected to the Nintendo GameCube, even if no game title with LAN-Function is being played. If you want to remove the broadband adapter, please press the plastic flaps alongside the adapter inwards, and pull it straight out of the Nintendo GameCube (ensuring the Nintendo GameCube is switched off first).
SPECIAL INFORMATION CONCERNING MARIO KART: DOUBLE DASH!!
This LAN-connection enables up to 8 players to play on two TV-screens. If more than two players take part, the screens will be split.
If all Nintendo GameCubes taking part are linked together and switched on, the LAN-mode option appears on all title-screens. After every player has confirmed the LAN mode and the connection has been made, the Mode Menu comes up. If all players have confirmed the game settings, the A button needs to be pressed to bring up the LAN mode's title-screen. By choosing "Start Game" you can quit the registration process and start the race (for details see game instructions).
Please make sure that all Nintendo GameCubes are set to the same screen resolution (50 Hz mode or 60 Hz mode), when setting up a LAN connection.
