Bluetooth® Audio is Disabled During Local Communication
The information in this article can help if you receive the message “Bluetooth audio is disabled during local communication” and your Bluetooth® audio device is disconnected.
Note
By design, some games activate local wireless communication when they are opened and may require local wireless communication to play or use certain features.
- Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit requires local communication to operate the Mario and Luigi karts. It is not possible to use this software without local wireless communication.
- Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield activate local wireless communication when they are opened in order to use their Y-Comm features. To disable wireless communication in order to reconnect your Bluetooth audio device, you can turn on flight mode and enable Bluetooth communication. You will not be able to use the Y-Comm features of the game while in flight mode.
This message appears when you start local wireless communication on your Nintendo Switch console while a Bluetooth audio device is connected. Local communication is used to wirelessly search for and connect multiple Nintendo Switch consoles that are near each other for multiplayer play or other communication. It is also used to connect to some accessories, such as the Mario and Luigi karts while playing Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.
It is not possible to use Bluetooth audio during local communication. Bluetooth audio is automatically disabled when local communication begins. After ending local communication, you can connect your Bluetooth audio device again.
