How to Update Pokémon Legends: Arceus
In this article, you'll learn how to update Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Note
- This update must be applied in order to use the game’s online features.
- A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the game's online features.
- Save data will still be available for use after downloading the update.
- The update will download and install automatically if the console is connected to the internet and the Automatic Software Updates setting is enabled. If there is not enough space in the system memory or on a microSD card to download the update, you will first need to expand or free up memory space and then follow the steps below.
- All players must be using the same version of the software to play together. Please make sure you have the same update version as the person you are playing with.
On 18 March 2022, a new software update for Pokémon Legends: Arceus became available for download. Please take a moment to download and install this update while your Nintendo Switch console is connected to the internet.
Complete these steps
- Connect the Nintendo Switch console to the internet.
- From the HOME Menu, highlight the icon for the software you wish to update without actually starting the software.
- Press the + Button or - Button, then select Software Update, followed by Via the Internet.
- Once the update is installed, the newest version number will be displayed on the title screen.

- Fixed a bug where, under certain circumstances, you don't receive the Shiny Charm, ever after meeting the requirements to acquire it.
Thanks to this update data, users that have already encountered the above issue and have met the requirements for obtaining the Shiny Charm can do so by talking to Professor Laventon at Galaxy Hall in Jubilife Village.

- New requests added
New requests have been added for you to enjoy after the ending credits play. Included in these requests is the investigation of Massive Mass Outbreaks, a mystery relating to the mass appearance of Pokémon all across the Hisui region. You can enjoy Massive Mass Outbreaks even after clearing the requests.- Even for save data in which you've played until the ending credits, you can enjoy elements after the credits by updating the software.
- "I'd rather battle" added
You can now take on "I'd rather battle" after completing all missions and the new requests above. In "I'd rather battle" you meet with Arceus in a dream and take on battles to test your strength. Practise your Pokémon battle skills and aim for victory! - New battles added to the training ground
You will be able to play Path of Solitude and Path of Tenacity in the Jubilife Village training grounds once you have cleared the new requests above. In Path of Solitude, you select one Pokémon and battle under severe conditions. Clear Path of Solutide and your Pokédex will be updated with a new mark. In Path of Tenacity, you can enjoy battles with every warden you've met in your adventure so far.- To play Path of Tenacity, you will need to play a few additional requests on top of the Massive Mass Outbreaks requests mentioned above.
- New element added to the Photography Studio
Clear the above requests and people you've met on your adventures will visit the studio, allowing you to take photos together. - The high difficulty Balloon Race has been added to the Coronet Highlands
Clear the above requests and you will be able to take on the high difficulty Balloon Race in the Coronet Highlands. Ride on all types of Pokémon to complete this mission! - Special Berry harvest added to the Jubilife Village fields
You can now select a special Berry harvest at the fields in Jubilife Village. This harvest allows you to grow berries that weren't available until now. - Changed Ginkgo Guild Cart feature
You can now choose from various options when buying tools from the Jubilife Village Ginkgo Guild Cart. - Other updates
- Fixed issues that prevent you from proceeding with the main mission after performing certain actions in The Plate of Moonview Arena.
- Fixed a bug that caused the weather to be stuck under certain conditions.
- Fixed some other problems for a better gaming experience.

- Fixed an issue where, while offline, the screen could freeze after trying to pick up a lost satchel by throwing out a ball that contains a Pokémon.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes made it difficult to catch Cherrim.
- Fixed an issue where a certain event would not occur during a particular mission, preventing the scenario from proceeding as intended.
- Fixed an issue where players could obtain certain Pokémon twice instead of once only as intended, prohibiting the player from obtaining other certain Pokémon. The relevant Pokémon will appear for players who were unable to catch those certain Pokémon due to this issue.
