Nintendo eShop Pre-Order was Cancelled
Information
A pre-order can be cancelled for several reasons, including if:
- It was cancelled manually by the user who placed it.
- You set up the pre-order to use Nintendo eShop funds but funds were insufficient at the time of payment (starting from seven days before the software’s release date).
- You chose to use a credit card or PayPal account as the payment method for the pre-order, but payment could not be processed because the credit limit had been reached or the card had expired.
- If a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher was selected as the payment method for the pre-order, there can be several reasons why the pre-order is cancelled:
- No Nintendo Switch Game Voucher available.
The customer might have used the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher after placing the pre-order and before the payment for that pre-order was charged. If no new Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are available or purchased in the meantime, the pre-order will be cancelled.
- The Nintendo Switch Game Voucher expired before the payment was due.
The customer will be able to place the pre-order using the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher as normal. However, if the Nintendo Switch Game Voucher expires and is no longer available at the moment that the customer should be charged for the pre-order, the pre-order will be cancelled.
- No active Nintendo Switch Online membership.
If, at the time that the charge for the pre-order should take place, there is no active Nintendo Switch Online membership under the intended Nintendo Account, the pre-order will be cancelled.
- No Nintendo Switch Game Voucher available.
- You set up the pre-order to use a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher, but, before payment was collected for the pre-order, you redeemed your vouchers for other games or your Nintendo Switch Online membership expired.
- When you place a pre-order, a specific Nintendo Switch Game Voucher is not redeemed, reserved or otherwise associated with the pre-order, so you may have accidentally used all of your vouchers on other games.
- Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers can only be redeemed using a Nintendo Account with an active Nintendo Switch Online membership that is not a free trial, so your membership may have expired before the voucher could be used.
- For more information about issues with Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers, please read Unable to Redeem a Nintendo Switch Game Voucher.
- The Nintendo Account that was used to place the pre-order has been deleted or is no longer eligible to make purchases.
- The age rating for the software changed and the user who placed the pre-order is no longer able to purchase it due to Parental Controls settings.
- A server error occurred when payment was being processed.
- The Nintendo Account that was used to place the pre-order is no longer linked to the Nintendo Switch console. If the software has not been released or it has been 60 days or less since its release date, the pre-order is merely suspended and can be reinstated by following our steps for when a Pre-Order is Suspended.
What to do
- After a pre-order is cancelled, it is not possible to reinstate it.
- If the software has not been released, you can place a new pre-order.
- If the software has already been released, you can purchase it from Nintendo eShop.
