Quick Start screen
While the Wii U console is turned off, pushing the Wii U GamePad power button will cause the Quick Start screen to appear. This feature allows you to start recently played or newly-installed software right away, without going to the Wii U Menu first.
If you turn on the Wii U console with its power button, or with any supported controller that isn't the Wii U GamePad, the Quick Start screen will not be displayed. Instead, the Wii U Menu will be displayed as usual.
It is also possible to check any received Wii U GamePad notifications from the Quick Start screen.
Wii U system software version 5.0.0E or later is required to use this feature. Please visit our System Updates section for more information about system updates.
