Chibi-Robo to the rescue!

Earth’s natural resources are vanishing – could eye-witness sightings of tiny UFOs have something to do with it? Whatever the case, Chibi-Robo must return to Earth to prevent an international crisis and send those thieving aliens packing!

Chibi-Robo

At 10cm tall, Chibi-Robo is one of the smallest heroes there is – not to mention one of the most eco-friendly! But size isn’t everything, as this little robot works tirelessly to make others happy, whether it’s cleaning up after a messy family or stopping an alien invasion.

Telly

Chibi-Robo’s pal Telly sure is one smart device! He’ll help you out by explaining all sorts of information from the safety of your spaceship, the Chibi-House.

Chibi-tots

Chibi-Robo may be small, but there are some robots that are even smaller! They’re called Chibi-tots, and they love to play around! If you see one in a stage, try to grab it!

Toby

This talking toy plane is just one of the many friends Chibi-Robo will meet on his adventures. Fulfil their dreams by delivering the snacks that they request and they’ll be overjoyed by Chibi-Robo’s generosity!

The Gyorians

The pesky Gyorians have been spotted on Earth and they’re the prime suspects in the sudden disappearance of the planet’s natural resources. What are these extra-terrestrial troublemakers up to?

Gameplay

Travel all over the world with Chibi-Robo in pursuit of those irritating invaders! Explore continents on foot using the Chibi-Plug to wallop enemies, plug in for new abilities, and grab collectibles hidden in every stage. In certain stages, hop aboard one of the Chibi-Vehicles to traverse by skateboard, submarine and many more!

Plug in

Ever the resourceful little robot, Chibi-Robo’s plug and cord, known as the ‘Chibi-Plug’, is a simple but effective tool on his latest adventure.

Orange panels can be found all over stages: on ledges, on the ceiling, and some in very hard to reach places. Throw and attach your plug to these panels to pull Chibi-Robo towards them, over them, or to swing safely over traps. Fling your plug at certain objects, such as small blocks, to smash them or hurl bombs to clear away obstructions.

Stay juiced!

Chibi-Robo is battery powered and everything he does runs down his power, known as ‘watts', bit by bit. Keep an eye on his watts, and when he’s running low, plug him into a power socket for a nice little recharge.

Give em’ a shock!

Chibi-Robo’s watts will run out quicker if he takes damage from enemies. Use the Chibi-Plug to perform a whip lash attack and stop them before they cause you harm – some enemies even have sockets that can be used to recharge a few watts before they’re destroyed! Watch out for bosses at the end of each continent and use the Chibi-Plug in inventive ways to topple these mechanical foes!

Can you reach it?

The zip lash is one of your most useful abilities, capable of smashing through large objects and grabbing items well out of your reach! Aim in almost any direction and watch as it bounces and ricochets off walls in surprising ways. Extend your zip lash’s reach by collecting boost balls and see what new areas you can discover!

All fired up!

Plugging into certain sockets may have some shocking surprises! For example, they may cause the little robot to overheat and burst into flames for a short amount of time, melting almost anything in his way. Some sockets can even give Chibi-Robo icy powers allowing him to freeze water and walk safely across it.

Travel the world!

Each time you complete a stage you’ll receive a score based on how many collectibles you gathered, enemies you've defeated, remaining charge, and more. You’ll also be able to give the Destination Wheel a spin to find out where your next adventure will take you. Be sure to make regular stops at your base of operations, the Chibi-House, to recycle trash you’ve collected, learn about your adventures on the Chibi-PC, recharge Chibi-Robo, or even unlock figures from the Chibi-Capsule vending machine using the Chibi-Robo amiibo.

By land, air, and sea

With so many places to visit on your mission, here are just some of the fun ways that Chibi-Robo likes to take in all the sights and sound in certain stages!

Hit the waves and catch big air using the Chibi-Wakeboard

Take to the skies using the Chibi-Balloon. Watch out – enemies can’t wait to burst your balloons!

Ride like the wind and leap over gaping chasms atop the Chibi-Skateboard

Turn bombs into torpedoes and explore perilous waters in the Chibi-Sub

Collectibles

Chibi-Robo’s biggest adventure yet wouldn’t be complete without tons of collectible items to find on his travels! Find as many as you can in each stage to get a high score. Can you collect them all?

Sweet moolah!

Coins or ‘moolah’ can be found across all stages and can be spent in a variety of ways: purchase helpful items that’ll be handy in a pinch or even change the panels on the Destination Wheel. Big coins are hidden in hard to reach locations and there are rooms filled with bountiful moolah waiting to be uncovered!

Snack happy

Find delicious real-world snacks littered across each stage. With more than 50 snacks hidden throughout Chibi-Robo’s travels, exchange them with his friends for cool rewards. Be sure to examine each snack you find on the Chibi-PC and learn more about where it came from.

Take out the trash

One man’s trash is another robot’s fuel! Being the eco-friendly robot he is, Chibi-Robo is always on the lookout for stray pieces of trash to tidy up. When you’re back at the Chibi-House, be sure to recycle these waste products into watts that will keep Chibi-Robo charged up for more adventures! You can also learn more about the trash you’ve grabbed at the Chibi-PC!

Hide and seek

Chibi-tots just love to play games! If you see one, try your best to grab it to boost your score. Handle them with care though – and don’t try to grab them with your plug!

Return to sender

Revisit a stage that you’ve already cleared and you might find a lost alien. Use your plug to carry it to a mysterious altar, then swing it above your head to call a Rescue UFO and receive a special reward!

Dressed to impress

Dress Chibi-Robo as a maid, a cat or even one of your favourite Nintendo characters! You might get an outfit whenever you rescue a lost alien. When you receive an outfit, you also get a digit of that costume's Outfit ID, which can be posted to Miiverse. Work together with other players on Miiverse to complete Outfit IDs and unlock more cool costumes for Chibi-Robo!

You can unlock even more fun content in Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash with amiibo. If you own a New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL, you can use amiibo on the NFC area on the bottom screen. You can also use amiibo on Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL and Nintendo 2DS via the NFC Reader/Writer accessory (sold separately)!

Super Chibi-Robo!

If you use the Chibi-Robo amiibo whilst in a stage, you’ll transform into Super Chibi-Robo! When you power up, Chibi-Robo will be able to run faster and your watts will increase! You can only transform into Super Chibi-Robo a limited number of times each day, so be sure to use this power-up wisely!

Level up!

If you use the Chibi-Robo amiibo when prompted at the end of each stage, you can record your score and level up your Chibi-Robo amiibo in-game from a wooden figure all the way up to diamond.

The higher the level of your Chibi-Robo amiibo, the more times you’ll be able to transform into Super Chibi-Robo per day. You’ll also be able to win more figures from the Chibi-Capsule vending machine in the Chibi-House.

Collect them all!

Tap your Chibi-Robo amiibo while in the Chibi-House to activate the Chibi-Capsule vending machine. Spend your moolah to buy a Chibi-Capsule containing one of 200 different figures featuring characters, enemies, poses and more. As you level up your Chibi-Robo amiibo, the chances of unlocking rare figures and other surprises increases!

With other compatible amiibo, you’ll earn moolah each day you scan them. You might even add new figures based on the poses of famous characters to the Chibi-Capsule vending machine.

Strike a pose

Use the figures you’ve collected to create your own pictures and dioramas at the Figure Photo Booth. Choose a background, arrange your figures, name your scene and take snaps to share on Miiverse.

Zolpi’s fortunes

Consult the mysterious Zolpi and see what the day has in store for you. Simply choose the save file you want to play, then touch the amiibo button and scan your Chibi-Robo amiibo to receive a daily fortune. Say… does Zolpi look familiar to you?
