Experience the individual stories of eight different travelers, each encouraging you to truly explore what lies within the world of Orsterra. From journeys of self-discovery to quests for revenge, live through eight character-driven tales with their own highs and lows.

Ophilia the Cleric – An orphan raised by Archbishop Josef, Ophilia sets out on her church’s sacred pilgrimage in her adoptive sister’s stead after their father falls suddenly ill.

Cyrus the Scholar – A scholar and professor, Cyrus leaves his post in search of an ancient tome that has vanished from the archives.

Tressa the Merchant – A young merchant who yearns for adventure, Tressa comes across an anonymous diary, and leaves her family’s shop behind to follow in the author’s footsteps.

Olberic the Warrior – An erstwhile knight bereft of king and kingdom, Olberic rediscovers a reason to wield his blade when brigands kidnap a young boy from the village he is sworn to protect.

Primrose the Dancer – Daughter of a fallen house, Primrose bides her time as a dancer in the pleasure district of Sunshade, waiting for the chance to exact revenge on her father’s attackers.

Alfyn the Apothecary – A young healer who dreams of easing suffering across the realm, Alfyn decides to follow his passion with encouragement from his best friend.

Therion the Thief – A master thief, Therion must recover three priceless treasures known as Dragonstones in order to earn his freedom after a heist goes awry.

H’aanit the Hunter – A skilled hunter and beastmaster, H’aanit leaves her forest home in search of her master, who left a year ago on a dangerous hunt.

The continent of Orsterra is vast and stretches across many lands, from lush forests to desert outposts and snow-swept cathedrals. Each traveler starts in a different land, so you can steer your own journey across Orsterra based on who you choose to play as.

Gather all eight characters and experience their stories in one grand quest, evenly strengthening your party for a greater chance against oncoming foes. Or, if you’re up for a challenge, go it alone and focus on a single traveler’s story – the choice is yours!

Along with a tale to tell, each of OCTOPATH TRAVELER’s eight protagonists possesses a primary job and a special ability known as a Path Action. With each job’s traits and each character’s Path Action, you can use unique sets of battle and support skills, or even manipulate the surrounding world.

Utilise each character’s unique Path Action to turn situations in your favour. Charm a guard away from their post, pilfer a key item from a certain villager, or lead someone out of danger – flex your strategic creativity to overcome scenarios in a variety of ways!

Rogue Path Actions allow you to unearth your daring side for your own benefit, such as stealing rare and valuable items from unsuspecting villagers. You can use rogue Path Actions whenever you wish, but unlike noble Path Actions, they can fail if your level is too low or the odds aren’t in your favour.

Repeated failure will tarnish your reputation in town, but the local barkeep can improve your reputation – for the right price…

Whether you’re fighting on the frontlines as a warrior, casting powerful spells as a scholar or brewing concoctions as an apothecary, the game’s distinctive job system means you can devise your perfect play style.

Each traveler starts out with a primary job, but can augment themselves with the skills of a second after obtaining them at special shrines dotted around Orsterra.

The powerful hunter + warrior combo could be the ideal set-up if you’re looking for all-out offense, while a cleric + apothecary can become the ultimate support character. Mix and match jobs to build up a number of different battle and support skills, and create travelers worthy of your command!

Further your knowledge of combat

Blending traditional RPG elements with a game-changing Boost mechanic, OCTOPATH TRAVELER’s battle system rewards strategic thinking and calculated risk-taking. Play it patiently to build up your Boost Points for a great reward, or cash these in as you acquire them to pile on the pressure – each battle can be grippingly different from the last!

Boosted physical attacks yield multiple strikes, giving you the opportunity to overwhelm opponents with a barrage of attacks. Boosted magical abilities, however, gains your character one more powerful strike – an effective option when an enemy is already on the ropes. Alternatively, Boost Points can be used to strengthen healing abilities to bring weakened allies back into fighting shape.

Along with their primary job skills, each traveler has a unique Talent: additional abilities that can aid you in battle or on the road. Some can offer support by revealing enemy weaknesses, while others can summon additional fighters to aid the party.

There are several weapon and magic types, and taking advantage of as many as possible will ensure you’re fit for the battles that lie ahead. With different characters possessing different jobs, skills, and fighting styles, you’ll need to assemble a balanced team of heroes to ensure you’ve covered all bases. Failing to plan is planning to fail!

At the end of each battle, the party is awarded money, experience points, and Job Points, which can be used to unlock new skills for each character.

Even with a well-balanced team, achieving victory can be difficult without knowledge of enemy weaknesses. Each enemy has at least one vulnerability – a type of weapon or a magical element – which is hidden until it's either revealed by an ability or exploited with an attack.

Every time you hit an enemy’s weak point, their Shield Points decrease. When they reach zero, the enemy enters a Break state, cancelling their current and next turn. Each of your attacks becomes a critical hit when the enemy is broken, so go all out!
