  • Get the most out of Dragon Quest IX with Tag Mode!

    29/07/2010

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is the epic adventure for the Nintendo DS where YOU are the hero. Create and customise your own unique character and go on an enthralling adventure through exotic lands filled with excitement, danger and hilarity in an almighty quest to save your people.

The main quest will take you many hours to complete but there are lots of other opportunities to interact with others when playing Dragon Quest IX, both in the game world and in real life! One of the most exciting ways to interact with other Dragon Quest IX players is to use Tag Mode. A runaway success in Japan, Tag Mode allows your Dragon Quest IX hero to “meet” the heroes of other players, swap character information and receive unique maps that will lead you to untold riches and fierce battles. The hero of the other player will also take residence in your Inn, which will grow larger in size the more people you interact with.

In order to enter Tag Mode with your Nintendo DS, you need to speak to Erinn at the Quester’s Rest and choose the option “Canvass for guests”. Once you’ve activated this mode, you can shut your DS and carry it around with you. Every time you’re in the vicinity of another player who has also entered Tag Mode, the exchange will take place. It’s a great way to pick up new maps and since it happens without you knowing, it’s a brilliant surprise to see you’ve met another fan during the day! Up to three new guests can take up residence in your Inn every day and you can have 30 visitors at any one time.

Extra content for Dragon Quest IX doesn’t stop there though! There are dozens of new quests to download and items to pick up outside of the main game. The way to get to these goodies is by using Dragon Quest IX’s very own shopping channel – DQVC. Fronted by Sellma at the Quester’s Rest, DQVC offers scores of new items for sale every week, with items available to you changing every day. Different players are offered varying items, so if a friend’s DQVC has something on sale that you fancy, you can even enter their game world using local multiplayer mode and snap it up for yourself! To use DQVC, you need to connect your Nintendo DS to the Internet. For more information on Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, visit our Support Section here.

As well as new items, you can download up to two new quests each week and familiar Dragon Quest series characters will sometimes visit your Inn to offer you yet more inviting items. To check out the latest downloadable quests on the Side Quest Calendar or find out more information on DQVC or Tag Mode, visit the official website here.
