This update focuses on making it possible to use certain amiibo features even when not connected to the internet as well as adjusting the balance of battles.
We adjusted the specifications for the Splattershot and Splattershot Pro with the intent of expanding the range of situations these main weapons can handle. Additionally, these weapons have specifications that form the benchmark for various other weapons. By improving these weapons, we also intend to make room for further specification improvements for weapons with similar distance specialisations in future balance changes.
For other main weapons, we have made changes that bring out their strengths and make them easier to use for players who regularly use them.
For Fizzy Bombs, the efficiency of the strategy of continuously throwing the bombs from afar will decrease. However, by making it easier to focus damage where a bomb is aimed and thereby create an ink path, we have made it easier to support other players moving to the front lines.
For Torpedoes, by giving more time to shoot them down, we have made it easier for players they are thrown at to handle them. Also, by making them easier to throw when aiming at enemies' sides or backs, we have improved their usability for the players who use them.
For the Autobomb, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of the fact that it reveals enemies swimming in ink.
For the Angle Shooter, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of the fact that it affects more distant enemies than other sub weapons.
For the Booyah Bomb, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of its properties even in fast-paced battles between experienced players.
The next update will focus on changes to battle balance based on a long-term analysis of battle data.

In regards to connectivity, we have reduced the time it takes to convey the things that happen in-game to the other players by optimizing the game’s internal processing and adjusting the communication control processing.
For multiplayer balance, we made the changes that we previously notified you about to lower the performance of some select weapons.
The Squeezer and Foil Squeezer were intended as weapons that are difficult to master but can produce high performance when mastered. However, because their shots could reach from a long distance and because they had high movement speed while firing, it was easy to make a lot of attempts, which made it easier to make up for the control difficulty. For that reason, their performance has been reduced.
For the Range Blaster and the Custom Range Blaster, by reducing the area of the attack and inking due to the explosion, we maintained the property of dealing damage to opponents you aim for carefully while reducing the property that deals damage to opponents whose positions are not precisely known.
Our intention with both weapons is to make it so that players who specialize in other weapons are not forced to switch to these weapons, while also maintaining a level of performance sufficient for players who already specialized in these weapons to continue to fight using them.
For the Snipewriter 5H and the Snipewriter 5B, we slightly reduced their ability to maintain inking status from a distance.
With the Slosher, Slosher Deco, and Order Slosher Replica, we have adjusted performance and points required for specials to make them like many other sloshers in that they have high instantaneous fighting and inking power, but when fighting with them continuously over time, it is easy to run out of ink.
Regarding the Heavy Edit Splatling and the Heavy Edit Splatling Nouveau, we changed the aspect of them where, in comparison to other splatlings with shorter flying distances, they were very effective at maintaining ink coverage when exchanging fire across areas such as Splat Zones.
For the Wellstring V and the Custom Wellstring V, we made changes to slightly lower performance when maintaining inking status from a distance.
With the Trizooka, we made changes to increase the opening when used on an opponent at close range, and also slightly increased the time to find a safe place to take cover after hearing an opponent’s Trizooka’s activation noise.
Additionally, we have changed it so that Japan and regions nearby it cannot participate in the Tentatek Division for X Battles.
Of the total number of players in Japan and nearby regions, an extremely small percent select Tentatek Division (the division for the Americas and Europe) despite living in Japan or nearby regions. However, we have made this change because it has reached a percentage that has a negative effect on rankings among players participating in the Tentatek Division.
The next update will focus on adding data for the Grand Festival.

This update focuses on making changes to multiplayer balance and comfort of gameplay.
For brellas, we have made changes to alleviate a phenomenon where, despite enough time passing since opening the canopy on the player’s screen, they would sometimes still be hit by their opponents’ shots and be defeated.
For attacks with most main weapons (such as shooters), whether damage is actually dealt is determined based on whether the attack hits on the screen of the player who made the attack. For that reason, whether or not the canopy is open on an opponent’s screen is important when blocking their attacks with a canopy.
Due to the time it takes for communication via the internet, it takes longer for a brella’s canopy to actually open on an opponent’s screen than it does on the player’s own screen. Additionally, due to the fix in version 2.1.0 for an issue where the animation of opening a brella’s canopy to protect from attacks happened slower than the actual defensive effect began, the timing for opening the canopy appeared quicker on the player’s own screen. As a result, this made a phenomenon occur more frequently where, despite enough time appearing to have passed since opening the canopy on the player’s own screen, they would sometimes still be hit by their opponents’ shots and be defeated.
In order to resolve this problem without changing the specifications for brellas, we considered restoring the animation to how it was before version 2.1.0, but we determined that damaging the feeling of the current controls is the greater problem.
After thorough consideration, we decided to fix this by reducing the difference in timing for when the player opens their canopy by speeding up the time it takes for the canopy to appear open on the opponent’s screen.
For other main weapons, we have made changes that bring out their strengths and make them easier to use for players who regularly use them.
Among the special weapons, while we have made changes to increase the reliability of the damage-dealing effects of the Reefslider, we have slightly decreased the impact of the inking due to its explosion. For that reason, this is an upgrade when used to defeat enemies, but it will make it slightly more difficult to use it to instantly ink territory again and again.
For the Ink Vac, we have made it easier to use by alleviating a phenomenon where the ground or walls were not inked depending on the impact position for the ink shot.
For Super Chump, we have made it easier to combine with follow-up attacks using main weapons by shortening the time for opponents to deal with the decoys.
For Kraken Royale, by slightly extending the time required to charge, we have created differentiation between the use of charge attacks and jump attacks.
For the Trizooka and Inkjet, we made changes to get the damage efficiency towards the Big Bubbler closer to that of other special weapons.
Beyond that, we have made other changes to improve gameplay comfort, including changes to prevent unintended signals from being sent in certain situations, changes to alleviate the issue of scattered weapons and gear blocking sight and changes to stabilise the display when an opponent is at the edge of an elevation difference.
We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. In that update, we will make changes to multiplayer balance, including lowering the abilities of select weapons.

This update focuses on adding features for Sizzle Season 2024 (which starts in June), making changes to Splatfests, and adjusting the balance of battles.
For battles, we’ve added things like new main weapons, as well as changed the specifications of some main weapons and special weapons.
For the Reefslider, we have made changes intended to add room for creative use, such as using it to halt an opponent’s progression.
For the Big Bubbler, we’ve made changes intended to both increase ways to use it in certain modes and make it easier to use for weapons that fight on the frontlines.
For the Ink Vac, while it is already a powerful option to protect other players while advancing, it is not very impactful when used on the spur of the moment. So we have made changes intended to make it possible to move steadily when using it while gradually retreating on your own.
For the Splattercolor Screen, we have changed it to give it additional uses for players who are already putting it to good use.
Also for battles, we have made the change we notified you about in the previous update where, when a player’s rank in any mode was within the top 1,000 ranks for the previous season’s X Battles rankings, they will be able to participate in X Battles right away after the season change. This change is to alleviate a problem with matchmaking being difficult immediately after the season switch for players with particularly high X Power.
For Splatfests, we have made it so that players will acquire conch shells in certain battles such as 10x Battles. On the other hand, because battles such as 10x Battles occur less frequently when you vote for a team with higher votes, we have also added a Conch Clash system so that the opportunity to obtain conch shells does not vary too greatly.
As for other changes, we have added Friend-Request Harassment to the options selectable when reporting users after battles or jobs. We have added this option in order to deal with behaviour like using inappropriate language when sending a friend request. In addition to this behaviour, any behaviour that is offensive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or abusive towards others is prohibited by the Nintendo Community Guidelines. Violating the Community Guidelines may result in action such as bans.
The next update will focus on changes to the balance of battles and is planned for the middle of Sizzle Season 2024.
