This update focuses on making it possible to use certain amiibo features even when not connected to the internet as well as adjusting the balance of battles.

We adjusted the specifications for the Splattershot and Splattershot Pro with the intent of expanding the range of situations these main weapons can handle. Additionally, these weapons have specifications that form the benchmark for various other weapons. By improving these weapons, we also intend to make room for further specification improvements for weapons with similar distance specialisations in future balance changes.

For other main weapons, we have made changes that bring out their strengths and make them easier to use for players who regularly use them.

For Fizzy Bombs, the efficiency of the strategy of continuously throwing the bombs from afar will decrease. However, by making it easier to focus damage where a bomb is aimed and thereby create an ink path, we have made it easier to support other players moving to the front lines.

For Torpedoes, by giving more time to shoot them down, we have made it easier for players they are thrown at to handle them. Also, by making them easier to throw when aiming at enemies' sides or backs, we have improved their usability for the players who use them.

For the Autobomb, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of the fact that it reveals enemies swimming in ink.

For the Angle Shooter, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of the fact that it affects more distant enemies than other sub weapons.

For the Booyah Bomb, we've made changes to make it easier to take advantage of its properties even in fast-paced battles between experienced players.

The next update will focus on changes to battle balance based on a long-term analysis of battle data.

    • Changed the design of some Splashtag banners.

This update focuses on adding data for a special Big Run that will be held in the near future, improving connectivity, and making adjustments to battles.

In regards to connectivity, we have reduced the time it takes to convey the things that happen in-game to the other players by optimizing the game’s internal processing and adjusting the communication control processing.

For multiplayer balance, we made the changes that we previously notified you about to lower the performance of some select weapons.

The Squeezer and Foil Squeezer were intended as weapons that are difficult to master but can produce high performance when mastered. However, because their shots could reach from a long distance and because they had high movement speed while firing, it was easy to make a lot of attempts, which made it easier to make up for the control difficulty. For that reason, their performance has been reduced.

For the Range Blaster and the Custom Range Blaster, by reducing the area of the attack and inking due to the explosion, we maintained the property of dealing damage to opponents you aim for carefully while reducing the property that deals damage to opponents whose positions are not precisely known.

Our intention with both weapons is to make it so that players who specialize in other weapons are not forced to switch to these weapons, while also maintaining a level of performance sufficient for players who already specialized in these weapons to continue to fight using them.

For the Snipewriter 5H and the Snipewriter 5B, we slightly reduced their ability to maintain inking status from a distance.

With the Slosher, Slosher Deco, and Order Slosher Replica, we have adjusted performance and points required for specials to make them like many other sloshers in that they have high instantaneous fighting and inking power, but when fighting with them continuously over time, it is easy to run out of ink.

Regarding the Heavy Edit Splatling and the Heavy Edit Splatling Nouveau, we changed the aspect of them where, in comparison to other splatlings with shorter flying distances, they were very effective at maintaining ink coverage when exchanging fire across areas such as Splat Zones.

For the Wellstring V and the Custom Wellstring V, we made changes to slightly lower performance when maintaining inking status from a distance.

With the Trizooka, we made changes to increase the opening when used on an opponent at close range, and also slightly increased the time to find a safe place to take cover after hearing an opponent’s Trizooka’s activation noise.

Additionally, we have changed it so that Japan and regions nearby it cannot participate in the Tentatek Division for X Battles.

Of the total number of players in Japan and nearby regions, an extremely small percent select Tentatek Division (the division for the Americas and Europe) despite living in Japan or nearby regions. However, we have made this change because it has reached a percentage that has a negative effect on rankings among players participating in the Tentatek Division.

The next update will focus on adding data for the Grand Festival.

    • In X Battles, changed the conditions for players’ current tentative rankings during a season to display on-screen from within rank 3,000 to within rank 50,000.
    • In Clam Blitz mode, made it so that when a player throws a clam or power clam into the goal right before it closed on their screen, the count will progress and the goal will open up again even if at that point the goal was already closed on other players’ screens, so long as it is within a certain amount of time since the goal closed.

    Other Changes

    • Made it possible to continue pressing the A Button to fast-forward the animations on the screen where XP and Grizzco Points acquired are calculated after returning to the lobby or Grizzco.
    • In battles, made it so that pressing the Down Button will not send the Booyah! signal for a short period immediately after a player is defeated.
      • This change is to prevent unintended signals from being sent in the event that a player is defeated while trying to Super Jump to the spawn point.
      • When a teammate is using a Booyah Bomb, players can send a Booyah! regardless of this change.
    • In Salmon Run, made it so that pressing the Up Button will not send the This way! signal for a short period immediately after a player is revived from being in a life ring.
      • This change is to prevent unintended signals from being sent in the event that a player is helped by a teammate while trying to send a Help! signal.
    • Made several changes to make it easier to use Photo Mode in Private Battles.
      • Players can now start recon even when there are only players on one of the teams.
      • During recon, This way! and Booyah! sent by players on the other team will now display, too.
      • During recon, when another player repeatedly uses This way! or Booyah! in a short period of time, the signals will now be shown without omission.
    • Shortened the time until a match is deemed no contest when another player is disconnected immediately after starting a match.
    • Made adjustments to make it harder to cause camera shake due to motion controls when pressing the ZR Button to zoom the screen in Splatsville, Inkopolis Plaza, Inkopolis Square and Order Sector.
    • Adjusted the player’s position when leaving Grizzco in Splatsville to make it harder to accidentally re-enter Grizzco by keeping the Left Stick tilted.
    • Made it so that players you battled with in X Battles do not display in the List of Users You've Played With feature on the Nintendo Switch console.

This update focuses on making changes to multiplayer balance and comfort of gameplay.

For brellas, we have made changes to alleviate a phenomenon where, despite enough time passing since opening the canopy on the player’s screen, they would sometimes still be hit by their opponents’ shots and be defeated.

For attacks with most main weapons (such as shooters), whether damage is actually dealt is determined based on whether the attack hits on the screen of the player who made the attack. For that reason, whether or not the canopy is open on an opponent’s screen is important when blocking their attacks with a canopy.

Due to the time it takes for communication via the internet, it takes longer for a brella’s canopy to actually open on an opponent’s screen than it does on the player’s own screen. Additionally, due to the fix in version 2.1.0 for an issue where the animation of opening a brella’s canopy to protect from attacks happened slower than the actual defensive effect began, the timing for opening the canopy appeared quicker on the player’s own screen. As a result, this made a phenomenon occur more frequently where, despite enough time appearing to have passed since opening the canopy on the player’s own screen, they would sometimes still be hit by their opponents’ shots and be defeated.

In order to resolve this problem without changing the specifications for brellas, we considered restoring the animation to how it was before version 2.1.0, but we determined that damaging the feeling of the current controls is the greater problem.

After thorough consideration, we decided to fix this by reducing the difference in timing for when the player opens their canopy by speeding up the time it takes for the canopy to appear open on the opponent’s screen.

For other main weapons, we have made changes that bring out their strengths and make them easier to use for players who regularly use them.

Among the special weapons, while we have made changes to increase the reliability of the damage-dealing effects of the Reefslider, we have slightly decreased the impact of the inking due to its explosion. For that reason, this is an upgrade when used to defeat enemies, but it will make it slightly more difficult to use it to instantly ink territory again and again.

For the Ink Vac, we have made it easier to use by alleviating a phenomenon where the ground or walls were not inked depending on the impact position for the ink shot.

For Super Chump, we have made it easier to combine with follow-up attacks using main weapons by shortening the time for opponents to deal with the decoys.

For Kraken Royale, by slightly extending the time required to charge, we have created differentiation between the use of charge attacks and jump attacks.

For the Trizooka and Inkjet, we made changes to get the damage efficiency towards the Big Bubbler closer to that of other special weapons.

Beyond that, we have made other changes to improve gameplay comfort, including changes to prevent unintended signals from being sent in certain situations, changes to alleviate the issue of scattered weapons and gear blocking sight and changes to stabilise the display when an opponent is at the edge of an elevation difference.

We plan on releasing the next update at the end of the current season. In that update, we will make changes to multiplayer balance, including lowering the abilities of select weapons.

    Bug Fixes

    Fixes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused a brella’s canopy to not break if it took damage equal to its remaining durability and was closed at the same time.
    • Fixed an issue where players would be slowed down when performing a dualie Dodge Roll or a splatana charge-swipe lunge into their team's Splash Wall.
    • Fixed an issue in which, when performing a dualie Dodge Roll or a splatana charge-swipe lunge immediately after coming into contact with an opponent's Splash Wall or other object and being bounced off, the action of being bounced off sometimes would not be displayed when viewed by other players.
    • Fixed an issue in which, when equipping a splatana and holding down the ZR Button, then tilting the Left Stick forwards while jumping and releasing the ZR Button at the same time, the activation of the charge swipe would be delayed as if you were lunging, even though you don't actually lunge forward.
    • Fixed an issue where, when performing a charge swipe with a splatana, the reticle would switch to the crosshairs for a horizontal slash before the charge swipe was actually initiated.
    • Fixed an issue where sometimes slopes were not inked when using the Reefslider and extending a rail towards certain slopes.

    Fixes to Multiplayer

    • Fixed an issue in Clam Blitz mode in poor wireless environments where, when the power clam is created as the goal closes, the power clam would sometimes appear on top of the goal.
    • Fixed an issue in Museum d'Alfonsino that prevented players from swimming at certain locations even when the locations were inked.
    • Fixed an issue in Flounder Heights in Tower Control mode and Clam Blitz mode that sometimes caused players to clip into terrain after the effect for the Zipcaster finished when used at certain locations.
    • Fixed an issue in Robo ROM-en in Rainmaker mode where there were places where “DON'T RETREAT!” did not display even when a player lingered while holding the Rainmaker in places that are difficult for opponent players to get into.
    • Fixed an issue in Lemuria Hub where, when performing a Super Jump to specific points near moving terrain, players sometimes went through the terrain and fell off the stage.
    • Fixed an issue where, when you Squid Spawn in Lemuria Hub, players could select the edge of the stage.
    • Fixed an issue in Lemuria Hub in Tower Control mode where players who used Triple Splashdown in certain spots were sometimes able to clip into into terrain.
    • For Turf War in Scorch Gorge, adjusted part of the terrain to fix an issue where using Squid Surge on certain terrain could allow players to climb onto the grate near the centre of the stage in an unintended way.

    Fixes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed a rare issue that sometimes caused the game to crash when repeatedly throwing Golden Eggs or firing them from a launcher while the connection was unstable.

    Fixes to Story Mode

    • Fixed an issue where players would not make any sounds when clearing a stage using a specific player appearance.

    Fixes to Side Order

    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the viewpoint to become fixed and no longer follow the player when the cutscene that occurs before fighting certain bosses was skipped at a specific timing.

    Fixes to Splatfests

    • Fixed an issue in which, when taking photos while riding the Splatfest Float at the Pledge Box, using the controls with specific timing would sometimes cause the player to enter Photo Mode with different members than intended.

    Other Fixes

    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the screen where the Challenge Power changes after a Challenge to temporarily display a value that was slightly different from the actual Challenge Power value.

      • Players who have already received the battle-boosting bonus will also be able to receive the 10 Sheldon Licenses by accessing the lobby terminal after applying the update data.

    Other Changes

    • Made it so that, when equipping the Squeezer or Foil Squeezer in battles and Salmon Run, continuously pressing the ZR Button in quick succession at shorter intervals than the weapon’s normal fire interval will lengthen the interval until the next shot is fired.
      • The Squeezer and Foil Squeezer are designed as weapons that players can use more efficiently by pressing the button with the proper timing.
      • This change is to prevent players from using these weapons at maximum efficiency when ignoring the timing and repeatedly mashing the button extremely quickly.
      • The adjustment has been made in a way so that those using the weapon normally will not be affected by the change.
    • Friend-Request Harassment has been added to the options selectable when reporting users after battles or jobs.

This update focuses on adding features for Sizzle Season 2024 (which starts in June), making changes to Splatfests, and adjusting the balance of battles.

For battles, we’ve added things like new main weapons, as well as changed the specifications of some main weapons and special weapons.

For the Reefslider, we have made changes intended to add room for creative use, such as using it to halt an opponent’s progression.

For the Big Bubbler, we’ve made changes intended to both increase ways to use it in certain modes and make it easier to use for weapons that fight on the frontlines.

For the Ink Vac, while it is already a powerful option to protect other players while advancing, it is not very impactful when used on the spur of the moment. So we have made changes intended to make it possible to move steadily when using it while gradually retreating on your own.

For the Splattercolor Screen, we have changed it to give it additional uses for players who are already putting it to good use.

Also for battles, we have made the change we notified you about in the previous update where, when a player’s rank in any mode was within the top 1,000 ranks for the previous season’s X Battles rankings, they will be able to participate in X Battles right away after the season change. This change is to alleviate a problem with matchmaking being difficult immediately after the season switch for players with particularly high X Power.

For Splatfests, we have made it so that players will acquire conch shells in certain battles such as 10x Battles. On the other hand, because battles such as 10x Battles occur less frequently when you vote for a team with higher votes, we have also added a Conch Clash system so that the opportunity to obtain conch shells does not vary too greatly.

As for other changes, we have added Friend-Request Harassment to the options selectable when reporting users after battles or jobs. We have added this option in order to deal with behaviour like using inappropriate language when sending a friend request. In addition to this behaviour, any behaviour that is offensive, harassing, threatening, discriminatory, or abusive towards others is prohibited by the Nintendo Community Guidelines. Violating the Community Guidelines may result in action such as bans.

The next update will focus on changes to the balance of battles and is planned for the middle of Sizzle Season 2024.

    Bug Fixes

    Fixes to Player Controls

    • Fixed an issue with certain main weapons where, when a player aimed an attack toward their feet, damage would sometimes be dealt to opponents above the player’s head.
    • Fixed an issue where, when another player tried to Super Jump just before the battle ended, that player would sometimes appear to be moving unnaturally on other players’ screens.
    • Fixed an issue where, when Super Jumping to a player who had never landed in an appropriate position to be used as a Super Jump destination after leaving an inkrail, players would land on top of the start point for the inkrail. Instead, players will now land on the ground near the inkrail start point.
    • Fixed an issue where, when ink from a roller’s vertical swing passed through a grate or other special terrain, that ink’s collision-detection size became slightly smaller.
    • Fixed an issue where, when repeatedly performing an action that fired ink from a roller’s vertical swing such that it grazed terrain, the ink’s collision-detection size for vertical swings during that battle became slightly smaller.
    • Fixed an issue with the Explosher and Custom Explosher where the blinking animation for the weapon’s interior did not display properly.
    • Fixed an issue with Bloblobber shots where, when they hit things like propellers, sponges, or inkrail start points, the shot would not vanish on opponents’ screens and would rebound, despite vanishing on the player’s screen. They will now vanish in both cases.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player used a dualie Dodge Roll or a splatana’s charged-swipe lunge while facing a downward slope, the player would sometimes float in the air.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player using the Undercover Brella defeated an opponent or assisted an ally in defeating an opponent, the canopy durability-recovery effect would not trigger if an opponent destroyed the canopy at the same time.
    • Fixed an issue with splatanas where, when pressing and holding the ZL Button with certain timing to enter swim form while repeatedly using the horizontal slash, the player would sometimes perform an extra horizontal slash immediately after entering swim form.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player with insufficient ink swung a splatana, that sound effect sometimes would not play for other players.
    • Fixed an issue with the Recycled Brella 24 Mk I where, when the player closed a damaged canopy, it appeared as if the opponents’ ink was not on the canopy.
    • Fixed an issue where, when using the Crab Tank in attack mode on a slope, the collision-detection positioning for opponents’ attacks on the player in the tank was sometimes misaligned from how it appeared.
    • Fixed an issue with the Zipcaster where, when the effect ends at the same time as the charge completes and the player returns to the original position, sometimes on opponents’ screens the explosion at the completion of the charge did not occur and damage was not dealt.
    • Fixed an issue with the Tacticooler where, when placed at a position touching the Tower Control tower, the Tacticooler would sometimes be destroyed immediately after placement.
    • Fixed an issue where, when a player placed a Wave Breaker, sometimes the visual displaying the area of effect that marks opponents for a short time did not display properly.
    • Fixed an issue with the Wave Breaker where sometimes the animation of the device and the timing of the waves were misaligned.

    • Fixed an issue in Mincemeat Metalworks in Rainmaker mode where the count would not progress despite jumping onto the high ground from the checkpoint while holding the Rainmaker.
    • Fixed an issue in Wahoo World where, by using Kraken Royale, it was possible to get into the opponents’ base through unintended methods.
    • Fixed an issue in Inkblot Art Academy in Rainmaker mode where there were places where “DON'T RETREAT!” did not display even when a player lingered in places that are difficult for opponent players to get into.
    • Fixed an issue in Manta Maria where sometimes the height was slightly different between the central grate and the adjacent terrain, making it difficult to come and go smoothly.
    • Fixed an issue in Humpback Pump Track in Rainmaker mode where, when a player with an unstable connection grabbed the Rainmaker while falling from certain points, sometimes a large distance would be counted.
    • Fixed an issue in Um'ami Ruins where attacking with a roller at certain points on terrain caused the game to slow down.
    • Fixed an issue in Marlin Airport where, by performing a Squid Roll from a propellervator, it was possible to get into the high ground through unintended methods.

    Fixes to Salmon Run

    • Fixed an issue with Private Jobs where, when returning to the lobby after playing in a room with a password, the password setting would be lost.
    • Fixed an issue where players were not pushed back when they attacked a King Salmonid by rolling into it with a roller.
    • Took measures to address an issue where, when there are a lot of Salmonids, the sounds for nearby Salmonids sometimes do not play.

    • Fixed an issue where, when a player in the Kraken Royale state fell from a corner of the terrain into the water, that player would sometimes fall into the water again immediately after recovering.
    • Fixed an issue where sometimes defeating a Flipper-Flopper immediately after it appeared would crash the game.
    • Fixed an issue where, when users who participated in the December 2023 Big Run but were prevented from accepting the correct reward for their high scores due to a bug, the process enabling them to collect the correct rewards did not work properly in version 7.0.0 and later versions.

    Fixes to Side Order
