    Family Group Invitation Email Did Not Arrive

    The information in this article can help you when you have not yet received an email sent by a friend or family member inviting you to join a family group.

    What to do

    Are you trying to send an invite or receive an invite?


    1. Verify that you are typing the recipient's email address correctly.
      • The email address you enter must exactly match the email address the recipient is using for their Nintendo Account.
    2. Make sure the recipient currently has an active Nintendo Account associated with the email address you are entering.
      • If they are using a different email address for their Nintendo Account, you must enter that email address instead.
    3. Ask the recipient to complete the following steps to ensure they are able to receive the invitation email and confirm that they are checking all inboxes.
      • Check their spam/junk folder to see if the email is there.
      • Make sure there are no filters in their email account that may be blocking emails from @accounts.nintendo.com.
      • Add the following email address to their contacts and safe sender list: no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com
        • These steps may vary depending on the email service provider. Common email applications will include an address book or contacts menu. Here you can select Add Contact and type or paste no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com.
    4. Resend a family group invitation to the recipient. The email should arrive within an hour of sending the invitation.

    Did the recipient receive the email after following the steps above?


    1. The recipient will need to complete the following to accept your invitation:
      1. Open the email and click the verification link.
      2. Sign in to their Nintendo Account.
      3. Select Join family group.
    2. Once the recipient has accepted your invitation and joined the family group, their account will appear in your Family group section and can be set as a parent/guardian or supervised account if desired.

    1. If the recipient is still unable to receive your invitation, there may be an issue with their email address. Ask them to try using an email address on another domain for their Nintendo Account by following our steps on How to Change Your Nintendo Account Email Address.
    2. After they have changed the email address for their Nintendo Account, resend the family group invitation using the new address.

    1. Sign in to https://accounts.nintendo.com/ and check the "Sign-in and security settings" section to confirm the email address that is associated with your Nintendo Account.
      • Error Message: This email address may not be able to receive emails. Please update your email address.

        This message indicates that your email address will no longer receive emails related to your Nintendo Account.

        To resolve this, change your email address to a different email address.

    2. Verify that the sender is entering your email address correctly.
      • The email address that the sender enters must exactly match the email address you are using for your Nintendo Account.
    3. Check your spam/junk email folder to see if the email is there.
    4. Make sure there are no filters in your email account that may be blocking emails from @accounts.nintendo.com.
    5. Add the following email address to your contacts and safe sender list: no-reply@accounts.nintendo.com

    6. Ask the sender to send you another family group invitation. The email should arrive within an hour of sending the invitation.

    Did you receive the email after following the steps above?


    1. Open the email and click the verification link.
    2. Sign in to your Nintendo Account.
    3. Select Join family group to accept the invitation. Your account will now appear in the sender's family group.

    2. After you have changed the email address for your Nintendo Account, ask the sender to resend the family group invitation using your new address.
