Discontinuation of X (formerly Twitter) integration feature and social network account integration for the Friend Suggestions feature on Nintendo Switch
Thank you very much for your continued support of our products.
As of June 11th, 2024, the following Nintendo Switch features have been discontinued:
- The X (formerly Twitter) integration feature
- The social network account integration for the Friend Suggestions feature
Please note that the following services have been affected:
- The feature for posting screenshots and videos to X (formerly Twitter) from the Album on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu is no longer available.
- You can still post screenshots and videos to Facebook, but please note that this service may also be discontinued at a later date.
- It is no longer possible to post Super Smash Bros. Ultimate screenshots to the Nintendo Switch Online smartphone app service ‘Smash World’ from the Album on the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu.
- The following features in Splatoon 3 for Nintendo Switch:
- When posting from the mailbox in Splatsville, Inkopolis Square or Inkopolis Plaza, you can no longer post to X (formerly Twitter) or Facebook, and the data is now sent directly to Nintendo’s servers. This change allows users to make posts without one of these social network accounts, but images posted by players under the age of 13 are not visible to other players.
- The images created for posts are copied to the Album on your Nintendo Switch console’s HOME Menu. Note that images in the Album can be sent to your smart device wirelessly or to a PC via USB cable.
- The following features in Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch:
- You can no longer post to X (formerly Twitter) from the mailbox in Inkopolis Square.
- Characters that appear in Inkopolis Square and the posts displayed there have been replaced with data already prepared within the game software.
- The feature for sending friend requests to social network friends via the Friend Suggestions menu on your User Page, in the Nintendo Switch HOME Menu, is no longer available.
- You can still use the Friend Suggestions feature to find users you are friends with on Nintendo smart device apps, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
We sincerely thank players for using this feature over the years.
