Out now – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC Pack 1 - The Master Trials
30/06/2017
New adventures await in the vast kingdom of Hyrule with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass. The Master Trials, the first of two DLC packs available exclusively with the Expansion Pass*, is out now, and includes new challenges, useful items, new armour and more!
The Expansion Pass is available to purchase from Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and Wii U, or via The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gamepage.
By heading to a certain location in Hyrule, you can undertake the Trial of the Sword. In this challenge, you’ll start without any armour or weapons and must defeat all the enemies in each room to proceed. By clearing all of the trials, you can awaken the power of the Master Sword, after which it will always be in its glowing powered-up state while usable.
Want to really test your mettle? In Master Mode, your foes are more powerful, deal more damage, are better at detecting you and slowly recover health in battle! While exploring in Master Mode, look out for floating platforms – these airborne challenges house tougher foes and useful treasures.
You can also retrace your journey with Hero’s Path Mode, or seek out the Travel Medallion, a nifty tool with the ability to create a temporary travel gate. Having trouble finding all 900 Koroks? Find and equip the Korok Mask and it’ll shake to let you know when there’s a crafty Korok nearby.
Eight new Treasure Chests will also appear somewhere in Hyrule, containing outfits inspired by The Legend of Zelda series. Let’s find out what these unique outfits and items have to offer:
If you wear this Phantom Armour, it will increase Link’s attack power.
Wearing Midna’s Helmet will add “Guardian Resist Up” to Link’s defence.
When wearing all three pieces of the Tingle outfit, Link will be able to run faster during the night.
Equip Majora’s Mask and certain enemies will have a harder time spotting you. Sneaky!
DLC Pack 1 The Master Trials is available now as part of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass. You can also access the Expansion Pass Bonus, which makes three new Treasure Chests appear in the game’s Great Plateau area. The second DLC Pack, The Champions’ Ballad, will arrive later this year, adding a new dungeon, an original story, and ever more new challenges.
