    How can I transfer a child account to another admin/family group?

    Additional Information:

    • For information about the different roles in a family group, click here.
    • To transfer a supervised Nintendo Account, the new family group admin must meet the following requirements:
      • The person the account is transferred to must be the existing admin for their family group (or not yet part of a family group).
      • The admin must be 18+ years old. If they are too young, they will need to transfer the admin role to a family group member aged 18+.
      • The Nintendo Account country/region setting for the new admin must be the same country/region                         as the supervised account.
      • The new family group must have fewer than 8 members. If there are already 8 members in the family group, you will need to remove members before transferring the supervised account.

    Complete These Steps:

    • 1. Choose the supervised accounts you want to transfer
      1. Visit accounts.nintendo.com/family/transfer_children_request.
      2. Sign in to the Nintendo Account that is currently supervising the accounts.
      3. Check the box next to each supervised account that you want to move.
      4. Select OK.
    • 2. Send an email to the new admin account
      1. Enter the email address for the admin you want to transfer the accounts to. The request cannot be cancelled, so make sure to enter the correct email address.
      2. Select OK.
      3. Review the information about transferring supervised accounts, then select Send email.
        • Request not sent or error message appears
          • If the Nintendo Account you want to transfer to does not meet the requirements listed in the section above, the request will not be sent. Please verify that the email belongs to an admin aged 18+ who is in the same country/region and has fewer than 8 members in their family group.
          • If an error message appears, or for additional assistance, please read Unable to Transfer a Supervised Nintendo Account.
      4. A verification email will be sent to the email address that you entered.
        • Entered wrong email address

          If you need to change the email address, repeat the entire process to send the verification to a different email address. The new admin must accept as soon as they get the email. Once the new admin accepts, any previous verification emails will be invalid.

    • 3. Within 24 hours, have the new admin accept the transfer

      The new admin will need to complete the following steps within 24 hours. If it has been longer than 24 hours, the original admin can repeat the entire process to resend the verification email.

      1. Open the email and select the verification link.
      2. Select Switch account and enter your password when prompted.
      3. Review the Nintendo Account Agreement and check the box to agree to it.
      4. Review the Nintendo Account Privacy Policy and check the box to indicate that you have read it.
      5. Select Accept transfer to transfer the supervised account(s) into the new admin's family group.
      6. Select OK.
