    How to Sign Up for a Free Trial of Nintendo Switch Online

    Instructions on setting up your free 7-day trial of Nintendo Switch Online.

    Important:

    • If automatic renewal is set, once your free 7-day trial is over, it will turn into a paid individual 1-month (30-day) membership.
    • If you do not wish to purchase a membership, you can terminate automatic renewal during the free trial and will not be charged.
    • The Nintendo Account Agreement, including the Purchase and Subscription terms, applies.

    Additional Information:

    • Nintendo Account users can sign up for a free trial of Nintendo Switch Online.
    • The free trial is available once per Nintendo Account.
    • The free trial can’t be used with Nintendo Accounts that already have an active individual or family membership. However, it can be used after the end of your existing membership (note that your automatic renewal settings may need to be adjusted for your current membership).

    Complete These Steps:

    How do you want to start the free trial?

    1. Select Nintendo eShop on the HOME Menu to launch Nintendo eShop.
    2. Select the account you want to use.
    3. Select Nintendo Switch Online on the left side of the screen.
    4. If there is a banner saying You can start a free 7-day trial! in the upper right of the screen, select View/Change Membership directly below it.
      • If the banner does not appear, then you either already have an existing Nintendo Switch Online membership or you have already received the free trial.
    5. Choose the membership you want (free trial, individual 1-month membership, etc).
    6. Choose whether to activate automatic renewal or not.
      • If you chose to activate automatic renewal, select a payment method when prompted.
      • If you select Credit Card, enter the required credit card information when prompted.
      • If you select PayPal, you will need to link your PayPal account to your Nintendo Account, if you have not already done so.
      • If automatic renewal is set, once your free 7-day trial is over, your membership will be renewed via the automatic purchase of an individual 1-month (30-day) membership. If you do not wish to purchase a membership, you can terminate automatic renewal during the free trial and will not be charged.
    7. Select Start Free Trial to begin your free 7-day trial.
    1. If you haven't already done so, make sure that you have completed all of the following required steps:
      • Make sure that your console is connected to the internet.
      • Visit http://accounts.nintendo.com and create a Nintendo Account.
      • Use your Nintendo Account to access Nintendo eShop on your Nintendo Switch console.
    2. Visit this page and select Free Trial.
      • If the free trial option does not appear, then you either already have an existing Nintendo Switch Online membership or you have already used the free trial.
    3. Enter your Nintendo Account sign-in information when prompted.
    4. Choose whether to activate automatic renewal or not.
      • If you chose to activate automatic renewal, select a payment method when prompted.
      • If automatic renewal is set, once your free 7-day trial is over, your membership will be renewed via the automatic purchase of an individual 1-month (30-day) membership. If you do not wish to purchase a membership, you can terminate automatic renewal during the free trial and will not be charged.
    5. Select Start Free Trial if you chose not to activate automatic renewal or Purchase if you chose to set it to begin the trial.
