The information in this article can help you if you are trying to change to a different Nintendo Switch Online membership and you receive one of the following messages:
- "A member of your family group already has a Nintendo Switch Online family membership or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership, so you cannot purchase this membership" (in Nintendo eShop on a Nintendo Switch console)
- "You already have a Nintendo Switch Online family membership or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership, so you cannot purchase this membership" or "You already have a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership, so you cannot purchase this membership" (on the official Nintendo website)

These messages indicate that you are currently part of a Nintendo Account family group that already has a Nintendo Switch Online family membership or Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership.
What to do
- Only the Nintendo Account that was used to purchase the Nintendo Switch Online family membership can change to a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack family membership.
- Please make sure that you are accessing Nintendo eShop on a Nintendo Switch console or the official Nintendo website using the Nintendo Account that was originally used to purchase the family membership.

- It is not possible to change to an individual membership when you are part of a family membership.
- If you purchased the family membership, you will need to wait until your current membership expires, then purchase the desired membership.
- If someone else in your family group purchased the family membership, you can leave the family group and purchase an individual membership for yourself.
