What Do I Need to Prove Warranty Coverage?
In this article you'll learn what is needed to prove warranty coverage for a repair request.
- To receive service under warranty, you must be able to show proof of purchase, such as a receipt, sales ticket or invoice.
- Additionally, the product must be within the warranty period and not have physical damage.
What To Do
- The document provided for the purchase should be used to prove warranty. The document should display the following:
- list of items
- price for each item
- full date (day, month and year) of the purchase
- name and tax details of the retailer/vendor
- If the product was not purchased but was won or swapped at repairs, the document to prove warranty should be as follows:
- Winning notification (of competition, etc.)
- Confirmation of contract bonus (if the product was given as a bonus of some sort)
- Repair invoice given by Nintendo
- The following documents are NOT accepted as proof of purchase and thus cannot be used to prove warranty:
- Order confirmations
- Email confirmations, for example, often don't show the price of the item or the tax details of the retailer.
- Overview of ordered items (Amazon, etc.)
- Crucial information is often missing from such overviews.
- Delivery notes
- A delivery note usually shows the items included in the box. Other information needed to prove warranty may be missing.
- Documents provided by private vendors (products bought second hand, etc.)
- If the seller can provide the original purchase invoice/receipt, the new owner can use this to prove warranty.
- Order confirmations
