Testing your shredding skills to the limits, Guitar Hero III on Wii places a classic Gibson Les Paul guitar controller in your hands and invites you to play your part in re-creating some of the greatest songs in rock history.

Featuring monster hits from the biggest acts on the planet, Guitar Hero III will transport you to the stage faster than you can say “encore”. The art of playing along to the game’s classic soundtrack couldn’t be easier to get to grips with. Start by slotting your Wii Remote into the guitar peripheral, pick your character and you’re ready to go. Then just keep your eyes fixed on coloured circles as they move along an on-screen fret board and tap the corresponding button on your guitar at the right moment. You’ll have to keep the rhythm on the guitar’s strum bar as well – adding to the authentic feel of rocking out like a true guitar hero.

The better you play, the more points you will pick up, with a long run of accurate finger activity boosting your Rock Meter. If the Rock Meter drops to nothing, prepare to be booed off stage! Successfully nailing certain notes will fill your Star Power Meter, eventually allowing you to activate Star Power by just tilting your guitar into a vertical position. Once it kicks in, Star Power will double your score for as long as it lasts. You can also give your Star Power Meter a boost by using the guitar’s whammy bar during select sections of a song.

Taking you even closer to the real thing, the rumble feature of the Wii Remote will cause your guitar to vibrate when Star Power takes hold, while the speaker will give you some unpleasant feedback if you hit a wrong note.

Once you’ve mastered the basics, all that remains is to get under the spotlight and strut your stuff! You can take to the road in career mode alone or with a friend and prove you have what it takes to keep audiences around the world entertained, or battle it out with computer opponents or other wannabe rock stars in the game’s various battle modes. There’s even the option of going online via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection and testing your mettle against players around the globe. The stage is set – now get out there and prove you are a legend of rock!
