Data management
In 2019, we will close the Wii Shop Channel used on Wii and Wii U, which has been available since December 2006.
Is there an easy way to see which controller I can use to play a particular game?
Yes. View the Details screen of any game listed in the Shop Channel. The controller icons will tell you which controllers you can use to play.
Can I return something I’ve downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel?
Any games, items, and features downloaded through the Wii Shop Channel are non-refundable and non-transferable.
How do I make more blocks available?
Content downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel is saved within your Wii console memory or to an SD Card inserted into your console. To see the memory available, select DATA MANAGEMENT from the Wii Options screen. If the content you want to download requires more memory blocks than you have available, you will need to manage your content.
To free up memory blocks, you can either move Channels or save data to an SD Card, or you can delete Channels or games to which you no longer need ready access. If you decide to delete a game or Channel, you can always return to the Wii Shop Channel and re-download it at no additional cost.
Can I back up the Virtual Console downloads on an SD Card?
Content downloaded through the Wii Shop Channel can be downloaded directly to, or copied to, an SD Card. Furthermore, with some Virtual Console games, save data for a game can be backed up on an SD Card. However, both the game and save data can only be used on the Wii console for which the game was downloaded.
I reformatted my Wii through the system settings. Can I get my content back?
Yes. To get back any Wii Shop Channel content you have lost by reformatting your Wii system, select TITLES YOU’VE DOWNLOADED from the main menu of the Wii Shop Channel and re-download any games, items or features at no additional cost.
Can I transfer or share Virtual Console content with other Wii systems in my household?
All Points and software downloads are only for use on a single Wii console and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
