The Louvre Museum's digital audio guide service, which uses the Nintendo 3DS system, was launched in April 2012.

Please note: in Museum Mode, sounds will not be played from the Nintendo 3DS system's built-in speakers. Please use headphones.

The Winged Victory of Samothrace, an artwork kept at the Louvre Museum, is currently undergoing restoration, and has been removed from its regular location as a result. Guests will not be able to see this artwork between September 2013 and summer 2014. As a result, the Masterpieces Tour recommended trail, which includes this piece, will not be available in Museum Mode in Nintendo 3DS Guide: Louvre during this time. The artwork can still be viewed within the software during the period it is not displayed in the museum itself.

The history of the Louvre

Did you know that the Louvre was originally neither a museum nor a palace? It was first built as a fortress to defend Paris during the Middle Ages, and it's still possible to see some of its original architecture if you venture underground.

800 years of history have taken place since the Louvre was first constructed, and the great deal of change it has witnessed is certainly worthy of note. Why not set out on your own voyage of discovery and see what you can find?

Software update 08/08/2014 (Ver. 1.1)

A software update is now available that makes several adjustments to enhance the overall experience.

Now that about thirty rooms of the Department of Decorative Arts in the Sully Wing have been reopened, new photos and commentaries of the pieces in this department have been added, along with museum photos.

Also, the restoration work that was being carried out on the Winged Victory of Samothrace since September 2013 is now complete, so that area of the museum has been reopened. If you plan to visit the Louvre, please note that the Masterpieces Tour, which contains this piece, is now available in Museum Mode once more.

Other adjustments have also been made to improve the gaming experience.
