Create your own unique character and embark on an epic journey with your feisty companion Malroth! As you travel across the land, you’ll meet a cast of colourful characters and help restore their homes to their former glory.

Triumph over destruction

After narrowly escaping the clutches of the nefarious Children of Hargon, you wash up on the Isle of Awakening and meet the mysterious youth Malroth. Together, you’ll set out on a grand adventure to rebuild the world and strike back against this destructive cult of calamity.

As you trek between different islands gathering precious resources and rebuilding settlements destroyed by the Children of Hargon, you’ll improve your skills as both a builder and a warrior.

Explore and shape the land

With DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2’s new fast-travel system, zip around the land to wherever your building skills are needed! The sea and the sky are open to you as well, thanks to underwater exploration and the new hang-glider. Should you want a break from building, indulge your green thumb with a spot of gardening or farming – your villagers can even help you out!

Once you’ve gained enough experience out in the field, you can combine forces with up to three other builders online* or in local wireless play**.

One block at a time

Taking on the Children of Hargon is a colossal task, so you’ll need to build your resistance on a sturdy foundation. Connect up with struggling villagers, take on their requests and revive their once-bustling homes. As you build more and more, you’ll reawaken the creativity lurking deep inside each villager, meaning they may help you out on your next construction.

Fulfilling tasks for your villagers will earn you gratitude points, vital for levelling up each base. Gather enough gratitude points and the village will band together to build one massive structure, in defiance of the Children of Hargon’s destructive dogma! Don’t expect this build to go smoothly though...

Into the wilderness

While your creativity may be boundless, a builder always needs resources. Whether you’re making somebody a house or fashioning a new set of armour, you’ll need a steady source of materials to keep you and your village running at peak condition.

You never know when a skeleton may suddenly attack, so be prepared when heading out on your next wood-chopping expedition. Make sure to pack some snacks for the journey – a rumbling tummy can be as dangerous as any monster.

When adventuring, equip yourself with the best weapons and armour to make sure you don’t find yourself on the wrong end of a hammerhood’s mallet! Monsters drop rare materials too, so gear up for a scrap when you’re gathering stuff to forge that shiny new sword.

Town planning

If you need a hand while building a village, use a blueprint! These handy schematics show you exactly what you need to put together a specific structure, including how big it will be. If you have enough materials, you can even place a blueprint down and have villagers construct something for you.

By placing certain items in a room, your villagers will start to use it for certain activities, like eating or sleeping. For example, place some farming tools, a haystack, some rope, a pot and firewood in a room with a chest and voilà – you’ve built yourself a barn! Experiment with specific items and see what room recipes you can discover.

On another level

Just like your villages, you can gain experience by defeating enemies, building structures and completing quests. Earn enough EXP and your character will level up, giving you access to new crafting recipes and increasing your overall health. You’ll be a legendary builder before you know it!

Coming a cropper

It’s not just about building and brawling – you can create new life by farming! Work together with your villagers to till the land, plant and then water your precious seeds. Always keep a watchful eye on your vegetable patch, just in case any monsters try to destroy it.

While you’re out adventuring, villagers can tend to your crops and even harvest them once they’re ready.

Pop down some Worm Food and Wrigley, your friendly invertebrate horticultural expert, will turn the surrounding area into land that’s perfect for farming.

Certain recipes require rare plants, so don’t be afraid to take a break from construction to head down the garden path and tend your prized shrubs.

Handle with care

Want to move blocks around without breaking out your trusty hammer? With the Gloves, simply pick up the block you wish to move and plonk it down wherever you’d like. Village renovations have never been so simple!

Going here, there and everywhere!

Explorers rejoice! Whether you’re sprinting over land, diving into the depths of a lake or soaring through the skies with the Windbreaker cape, getting about in DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS 2 couldn’t be easier.

As you venture around each island on your quest to take down the dastardly Children of Hargon, you’ll find Naviglobes, which make moving around lightning fast. Simply bring up the mini-map, pick the point you wish to warp to, and away you go!

Man of mystery

Your amnesiac partner-in-crime, the fearless youth Malroth, joins you on your adventure. While he lacks your ability to create things, Malroth’s immense strength is a great help for fighting monsters and gathering resources out in the field.

As you continue your journey, you’ll uncover more about this enigmatic youth’s past. What caused him to lose his memory?

Building friendships

Collaborate with up to three other builders on grand constructions via local wireless play* or online multiplayer with people on your Nintendo Switch Friend List**! After freeing the first island from the Children of Hargon’s clutches, you can travel back to the Isle of Awakening and play with your fellow builders.

Invite friends to your Isle and build to your heart’s content together, or simply show off your latest project. With the Magic Pencil item, sketch out blueprints based off your friends’ creations, and then build them when you’re playing solo.

Photo opportunity

Show off your newest build or strike a pose with Snapshot Mode! At any time, you can take a picture, add filters or even hide your character to show off a beautiful landscape.

Once you’re happy with your shot, upload it to any noticeboard for other players to see and “like”, should they admire your photography skills*.

You can even upload your own Isle of Awakening to the noticeboard, so other builders can take a closer look! Why not visit other players’ Isles of Awakening to get some creative inspiration?

Special photo contests will be held on the noticeboard too, so make sure to share your pictures with the world!
