Update from the Squid Research Lab: Take on the Octarian menace in Splatoon 2’s Hero Mode
07/06/2017
When Splatoon 2 splats onto Nintendo Switch on July 21st, it’ll feature Hero Mode, a single-player adventure that entrusts you with helping Squid Sister Marie seek out Callie, who’s mysteriously disappeared. We recently shared some findings on it, delving into the equipment you’ll be able to use to thwart the Octarians!
Speaking of which, the Octarians aren’t messing around this time. In fact, they’re rising to the Inkling challenge with their own army. In the underground world of Octo Canyon, they've boosted their numbers and are just itching to invade the Inkling world!
Octolings are pretty cunning and their top scientists are constantly coming up with new weapons to stop you, such as the Octozeppelin airship or the large, rolling Octoballer!
Our brave field researchers delivered these photos of a few members of the Octoling army.
Here’s the Octoling – an Octarian that can transform into octopus form and move the same way as an Inkling can in squid form. She may look harmless, but appearances can be deceiving! Octolings will attack with all manner of weaponry: Splattershots, Splat Rollers, Sloshers – you name it, and they’ll bring it. They're keeping ahead of the fashion curve with upgraded visors too. We hate to admit it…but they look pretty fresh!
This burly bloke is Octo Samurai. Wielding his favourite giant roller, he’ll mow down any foe foolish enough to get too close. With his no-nonsense attitude towards slackers, he's seen by many in the Octo-community as a dependable older brother. In his free time, he enjoys touring on his motorbike, apparently. We’re not sure how our researcher knows this, but it seems legitimate.
This one is a new type of Octarian we’ve never seen before. It’s called a Tentakook and it’s a real pain in the neck, scattering bombs when running away from its foes. Your best bet is to chase it into a dead end and splat it!
These villains won’t be easy to take down at all. You can enrol and take on the Octarian menace yourself when Splatoon 2 launches July 21st on Nintendo Switch! You can learn more about the game at our official Splatoon 2 gamepage, and get more updates at the official Splatoon Facebook page, where we publish our findings.
