As of May 20th, 2014, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service was discontinued and it is now no longer possible to use online features of Nintendo DS/DSi and Wii software such as online play, matchmaking, competitions and leaderboards.
For a full list of which Nintendo-published games are affected, please visit our Support section.
The Wii Shop Channel and Nintendo DSi Shop will not be affected however, and will continue to be accessible after May 20th.
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is a free service offered by Nintendo, allowing you to play with other Nintendo fans over the Internet.
To take advantage of this service, all you need is access to a wireless Internet connection and a game compatible with the service. Once you have these, just follow the in-game menus to play online!
*Note that certain software titles marked with the "Pay & Play" logo offer optional downloadable content that can be purchased with Nintendo Points. Please refer to the operations manual of games featuring the "Pay & Play" logo for more information.
If you already connected your Wii to the Internet, you are ready to enjoy the online features of any game marked with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection logo.
Depending on the software title you may be able to play the game online, upload your best scores to online leaderboards, or even chat with your friends online.
