Discontinuation of certain services
From March 31st 2021, it will no longer be possible to upload courses in Super Mario Maker for Wii U. On the same day, the Super Mario Maker Bookmark website will also close.
It will still be possible to play courses uploaded before the service discontinuation.
In preparation for the discontinuation of these online services, Super Mario Maker for Wii U will be removed from sale on Nintendo eShop on January 13th 2021. It will still be possible to redownload the game after this date.
There is no impact on Super Mario Maker 2 for Nintendo Switch.
We would like to thank all players for supporting Super Mario Maker for Wii U over the past five years.

- The Super Mario Maker Bookmark website
Due to this, the following features within the software’s Course World will also become unavailable:- Updating the ranking of liked courses
- Looking up your bookmarked courses
An error message will be displayed when trying to access these discontinued services after their end date.
With a practically infinite number of courses, Super Mario Maker – only available on Wii U – is packed with endless Mario fun everyone can enjoy!
By connecting to the internet*, you can download and play courses created by other players from all over the world!
Super Mario Maker will feature dozens of sample courses that are directly playable, and can help to inspire players in creating their own. Also included are the four courses featured in the Nintendo World Championships 2015**.

Super Mario Maker + amiibo!
If you tap a compatible amiibo, like Wii Fit Trainer, Mario can turn into Wii Fit Trainer when he gets a Mystery Mushroom.
And to celebrate Super Mario’s 30th anniversary, we’re releasing an 8-bit amiibo. When you use it, your Mario in-game is going to appear a bit bigger! The amiibo itself is pretty big too, to reflect the effect in the game.
*Broadband internet connection required. The registration of Nintendo Network ID and acceptance of the Nintendo Network Agreement and Privacy Policy are required.
