Story

Stage invasion

In Tokyo, ordinary student Itsuki Aoi runs into his childhood friend Tsubasa Oribe. Ambitious Tsubasa is preparing to participate in a competition to become an idol singer, but as the competition begins, the stage is stormed by a swarm of sinister figures, who drag Tsubasa through an eerie portal.

Itsuki immediately jumps into action and, with the aid of some mysterious beings, he and Tsubasa are able to fight off the invaders. It’s revealed that their saviours, Chrom and Caeda, are heroes from another world and that the place they’re in is the Idolasphere – a dimension that bridges the gap between the two worlds.

CI16_WiiU_TokyoMirageSessionsFE_HeroesMirage.jpg

Within the Idolasphere, the heroes take on spectral forms known as Mirages. While many Mirages are intent on waging war against our world, some prefer to team up with certain talented humans, becoming weapons for them to wield in battle. Mirages respond to Performa – the power of creativity and self-expression in the human heart – and the humans who can form bonds with Mirages to make use of their awesome powers are known as Mirage Masters. With the help of Mirages, they can take on foes that threaten the world.

Tipped for the top

Secretly, the talent agency Fortuna Entertainment has been trying to prevent Mirages from invading our world. After learning of their experience in the Idolasphere, the agency enrols the talents of the young heroes, whilst giving them a golden opportunity to achieve their dreams of stardom.

As they face Mirages, our young heroes will also follow their dreams as they try to become stars. They’re determined to sing, dance and act their way to the top, but the road to showbiz success is never a smooth one…

The power of Performa

Both Mirages and Mirage Masters can use Performa as a source of power. The more creative someone is, the more Performa they have, and the young hopefuls trying to break into the world of show business burn particularly brightly. Evil Mirages are attacking humans, hoping to drain them of their Performa and take this precious energy back to their world. Just what are they planning to do with the stolen energy?

Another level

As you take part in battles, characters will gain experience, level up and learn new skills that will help in your adventure. Each character also has a Stage Rank, which represents their development in the entertainment world, and their weapons can be levelled up to increase their powers. You’ll gain experience in all areas by defeating enemies, so take on Mirages whenever you can to enhance your abilities.

Side steps

As if saving the world wasn’t enough, the heroes also have their own individual dreams and dramas to contend with. During side stories, support them as they try to fulfil their showbiz ambitions: you might assist at a live concert, lend a hand on a cookery programme, or open up an opportunity for a character to appear on a television show! Each time you clear a side story, you’ll gain additional skills that will help you, both as a rising star and as a Mirage Master.

Stay in touch

One of your most useful tools is Topic, a social media stream that keeps you in contact with your allies. Check the Wii U GamePad at any time to see what’s going on with other characters and swap messages with them. Messages might contain helpful hints – read them carefully so you don’t miss a thing. You can also have private conversations with characters, allowing you to deepen your friendships. You might even unlock new side quests!

Additionally, the Topic tool can be used to view the map, plus track your progress around Tokyo and each dungeon in the Idolasphere. In battles, you can find information about your party members and opponents on the GamePad screen with just a few taps.

Let’s go shopping!

During intermissions in Tokyo, you’ll spend time in shopping areas like Shibuya and Harajuku. Have a good browse around and spend a little – some items are sure to come in handy!

CI16_WiiU_TokyoMirageSessionsFE_Shop01_EN.jpg

Convenience stores sell items that can be used to give you an advantage in combat, while other shops offer a huge range of dazzling accessories that can boost your stats. Visit fashion boutiques to kit yourself out in the flashiest threads to ensure you slay enemies in style. If popping into a shop is too much effort, you can also purchase items from vending machines that you find around the city!

Battle

Welcome to the Idolasphere

Your adventures will take you through Tokyo and another dimension known as the Idolasphere. Here, fiendish dungeons filled with an array of tricks and traps stand in your way – as well as hordes of marauding Mirages itching to do battle. Enemies are represented in dungeons as spectre-like figures, and if you touch one combat will commence.

CI16_WiiU_TokyoMirageSessionsFE_Dress01_EN.jpg

All sorts of bizarre things are waiting to be discovered in the dungeons of the Idolasphere. In the dungeon called Illusory 106, located in Shibuya, move from floor to floor and make your way to the top via the arms of enormous mannequins, while Illusory Daitou TV sees you preparing a set before filming can begin. One thing’s for sure – you never know what to expect in the Idolasphere!

Stage fight

Battles take place in gigantic arenas where you and your opponents are the star attractions! Once the stage is set for a sensational showdown, each side takes a turn to strut their stuff and deal out damage. When you’re victorious, you’ll gain experience, Performa and build your Stage Rank, which will allow you to learn new skills. You can also forge new weapons using Performa. The more you fight, the more powerful you’ll become.

CI16_WiiU_TokyoMirageSessionsFE_Combat03_EN.jpg

Characters fight with weapons, and each category of weapon – sword, axe, lance – is strong against another type of weapon. They each have a specific weakness too, so pay attention to the weapons being used to stay competitive. In addition, many attacks are based on elements such as fire, ice and wind, which have their own strengths and weaknesses.

In session

Dole out super effective attacks to activate combos called Sessions! Hit an opponent with a move they’re weak against and another member of the party might jump in immediately afterwards to show off their own move – provided they know a chainable attack. With the right skills in place, all members of your party can potentially join in a Session. Look for weaknesses whenever you can to leave your enemies reeling – but be wary of your weak points, as enemies can perform Sessions of their own.

CI16_WiiU_TokyoMirageSessionsFE_Combat04_EN.jpg

Critical hits

There’s an array of extra skills that Mirages and Mirage Masters alike can learn. By grasping these exceptionally powerful skills, they can unleash potent, and highly unique, moves.

Talent scout

Visit Bloom Palace, the fantastical place that Tiki calls home, to learn new abilities. Performa harvested from Mirages can be used to create weapons, each with their own skills, or to create Radiant Skills, which can improve stats, sharpen the creative talents of the Mirage Masters and open up new combat possibilities.

The classes of Mirages can also be changed. Each Mirage has a number of possible class options open to them, and they all give access to different skills. Decide what your tactical approach should be, and choose the best class for you.
