A wonderful world of wool

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is a dyed-in-the-wool platformer that’s bursting with colour and texture, only on Nintendo 3DS family systems. Explore a material world with Yoshi and Yoshi's adorable friend Poochy!

Unthread walls with a flick of Yoshi’s tongue, throw Yarn Balls to knit in new platforms and Flutter Jump to areas that seem just out of reach. Using Power Badges or tapping in the Yarn Poochy amiibo (sold separately or as part of a software bundle), you can always call Poochy into action if you need a helping paw!

Trouble is looming on Craft Island! On their island paradise, located in the middle of Handmade Ocean, the Yoshi clan is enjoying yet another day of relaxation and fun…until that naughty knitwit Kamek shows up on the scene!

A sprawling adventure

Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World includes every level from Yoshi's Woolly World on Wii U. There are extra stages starring Poochy as well – time Poochy's jumps to collect as many Beads as you can and head for the goal!

Secrets are hidden everywhere, so keep a beady eye open for anything that looks suspicious! There are all sorts of collectibles too: snap up some Smiley Flowers to unlock new courses, find Wonder Wool to get new Yoshi patterns, and more!

A welcoming world

Anybody can have fun with wool! Enjoy a traditional Yoshi experience with Classic Mode, or play without pressure in Mellow Mode. In Mellow Mode, Poochy Pups can follow you around, search out secrets and attack bad guys!

Compatible with amiibo!

amiibo (sold separately) can be used in loads of ways in Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. You can enlist Poochy's help at any time with the Yarn Poochy amiibo, play with Double Yoshi in single-player mode, save Yoshi patterns, or unlock Yoshi patterns based on other famous characters!

Story

Yoshi’s world is coming undone!

The Yoshis are living peacefully on Craft Island, until that naughty knitwit Kamek shows up at the scene!

Kamek uses his magic to turn most of the Yoshis into yarn, but a couple of them pull the wool over his eyes and chase him off before he does any more damage.

The remaining Yoshis knit together and set off to rescue their friends! Oh, and this time the Yoshis' friend Poochy wants a bigger piece of the action. Glad to have you along for the ride, Poochy!

A crafty cast

Meet a few of the characters entwined in this adventure!

The star of the sew, Yoshi can gobble up enemies and turn them into Yarn Balls, then throw them at bad guys and barriers alike. Yoshi can also Flutter Jump over obstacles, take on different forms and unravel stray threads with a flick of the tongue!

Kamek’s never anything but bad news for Yoshi! If you meet any oversized enemies during your journey, it’s bound to be Kamek’s doing!

Yoshi’s usually the one carrying others around, but Poochy’s always happy to give Yoshi a ride! Poochy can run across obstacles that Yoshi can’t handle alone. He's pretty good at jumping to collect beads, too!

Meet the Poochy Pups! These lovely little helpers sniff out secrets and jump on suspicious spots to show you just where to look!

Gameplay

Yoshi’s got the moves

Yoshi’s got a whole knitting kit full of tricks, including signature moves like gobbling up enemies, Flutter Jumping to reach high platforms and throwing items to defeat enemies or open up new paths – except in this adventure Yoshi lobs Yarn Balls, not eggs!

Swallow enemies, untie knots or hit Yarn Baskets to get Yarn Balls, then hurl them at enemies and switches to move forward. They can even be used to knit in new platforms if you see an outline! If you prefer to aim with motion controls, you can tilt your Nintendo 3DS family system to get just the right angle.

Bursting at the seams

Not everything is as it seams – every course is full of secrets and collectibles, so be sure to poke around in every nook and cranny to find hidden areas wherever you go. Some things are even invisible until you touch them with Yoshi or a Yarn Ball!

An adventure for all

Whether you’re a platforming expert or a beginner, this adventure’s open to everybody! Play in Classic Mode for a traditional Yoshi experience, or play without worries in Mellow Mode.

In Mellow Mode, Yoshi gets a pair of wings and can fly in mid-air, and health Hearts are more plentiful. If you’re still having a tough time, after five tries at a course you can also get an Invincibility Egg, which protects you from enemy attacks.

By collecting Beads, you can also unlock helpful items called Power Badges. If you choose to use them, they’ll give you a special bonus for one course, such as useful power-ups throughout the course. You can call Poochy in with these!

Tailor-made

At certain points, Yoshi can enter a Transformation Door and re-thread in a fun new form! Yoshi only stays in these forms in these areas, though, so make the most of them while you can! Float gently on the breeze with Umbrella Yoshi, zoom for the finish with Moto Yoshi, stomp through anything in your way as Mega Yoshi, and more!

Doggy dash

Poochy's always happy to help Yoshi out with a ride, but he's also got his own stages to run through solo! In Poochy Dash levels, rush ahead and time your jumps to collect beads, pop balloons and pick up Poochy Pups as you head for the goal. You can find these levels in the Poochy Hut on Craft Island.

Puppy love

If Poochy is a Yoshi's best friend, Poochy Pups can't be far behind! In Mellow Mode, these delightful little doggies trot faithfully behind Yoshi, sniffing out secrets and hidden areas. They'll also attack any enemies that get too close – and you can throw them right into the action, too!

Create and share your own Yoshi!

Can't find a Yoshi pattern that suits you? Design your own Craft Yoshi in two different ways! With the professional option you can choose to paint all parts of Yoshi however you like, editing Yoshi's head, arms, body and legs separately.

Meanwhile, if you prefer the easy option, all of Yoshi can be edited at once, and you can use any crafty materials you've earned by collecting Pencil Patches. If you're particularly proud of your creation, you can share it with other players via StreetPass!

Collectibles

Diamonds and purls

Getting to the goal at the end of each course is only half the story in Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. There are tons of things to collect scattered around every stage, and not all of them are in plain sight! Leave no cloth unturned, give plush walls a push and tug on any loose strings to explore every part of the world, unravel secrets and track down all the trinkets.

In Mellow Mode, Poochy Pups can help Yoshi find secrets too. They'll even show you exactly where to look!

Beads
These shiny objects are all over the place. Collect these valuable items and use them to buy Power Badges!

Hearts
Restore Yoshi’s health by grabbing Hearts. You’ll have to be quick, though, as they don’t stick around for long!

Smiley Flowers
There are five Smiley Flowers hidden in every course, and the more you get, the more chance you have of playing a bonus game! Plus, if you find all of a world’s Smiley Flowers you'll unlock a secret course...

Wonder Wools
These fantastic threads are the key to saving the Yoshis and reuniting their tight-knit community – find all five Wonder Wools in a course and they’ll weave together into a new Yoshi pattern! You can switch between Yoshis on Craft Island.

Pencil Patches
Every course contains 20 Pencil Patches, each hidden behind a Bead. Collect enough and you’ll unlock patterns that can be used when creating a Craft Yoshi.

amiibo (sold separately) can be used in loads of ways in Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. Compatible amiibo can be tapped to bring Poochy into the action, play with Double Yoshi in single-player mode, save a Yoshi pattern to the amiibo, or unlock Yoshi patterns based on other famous characters!

Poochy power

If you tap the Yarn Poochy amiibo (sold separately or as part of a software bundle) while playing a course with Yoshi, you can enlist the charming pup's help at any time! Using the Yarn Poochy amiibo during Poochy Dash also allows you to play these stages in Time Attack mode. By clearing these speedy variations, you'll get special designs for Poochy, which can be saved to the Yarn Poochy amiibo!

Double stitching

When you tap in any Yoshi amiibo while playing in single-player, you can control two Yoshis at the same time with Double Yoshi! You can interact with your second Yoshi in the same way as you would with another player. As long as you have a Yoshi amiibo, you never have to play alone!

Save your style

While using a Yarn Yoshi amiibo, you can save a Yoshi pattern to your amiibo, so you can take your favourite Yoshi to a friend’s house and continue playing. Choose your favourite colour at the Yoshi Hut and take it away!

Get a new look

You can tap in another amiibo to unlock Yoshi patterns based on that character! There are loads to play around with, including many new to Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World, so try out various amiibo to see every possibility. Any Yoshi patterns unlocked with amiibo can be found in the amiibo Hut.
